Week 2 of LeRoyLittleLeague
Twins 6 RedSox 5
The Twins were able to hold on and
win a close one against theRedSox. Colin
McCulleyandColeRauscherboth reached
baseandscored in thefirst togive theTwins
the lead. The Sox would answer with two
runs of their own to tie it 2-2 after one in-
ning. BriceLathanwoulddraw awalk and
goon toscore thanks toaJohnnyPanepento
single.TheTwinswouldanswer in the topof
the third. ColinMcCulley ripped a double
to left field.ColeRauscher thenblasted the
first home run of the Little League season
over the scoreboard in left field togive his
team the leadonceagain.TheTwins tacked
two more runs on in the 4th after Kaden
BurgerandConnorMurrelldrewwalksand
bothwent on to score. XavianWalker and
LukeCaccamisewould record singles and
score to keep it close.
ColeRauscher startedon themound for
theTwinsandwasveryeffective.Hestruck
out eight batters before being relieved by
BrianRoblee.BriceLathanalsoperformed
well striking out five.
Johnny Panepento was 4-4 for the Red
Soxwith a double and three singles. Luke
Caccamise had two singles while Joey
Brennan,BriceLathanandXavianWalker
each had singles.
ColinMcCulley had two singles and a
double for the Twins. Cole Rauscher hit
his firstHRof the season andhad a single.
A’s 9 WhiteSox 1
In the secondgameof aMondaydouble
header, theA’sdefeated theWhiteSoxbya
score of 9-1 in a game thatwas closer than
the scorewould show.
The A’s bats would start out strong
with back to back singles from Conner
Wright and Jackson Fix. Awalk toBrady
Fix would load the bases for A’s pitcher
Shawn Moribito. Moribito would hit a
bases clearing double to give theA’s a 3-0
lead. That would be all the runs hewould
need as hewould go on to pick up thewin
on the mound. The A’s continued the hot
hitting in the second. JacobElmorewould
draw a lead-off walk, followed by another
single fromWright. BradyFixwouldclear
the bases with a double to gap and it was
5-0 after two. The top of the thirdwould
bring one more A’s run as Austin Bogue
reached on awalk and scored on aConner
Write double.
Moribito struck out the side in the first
three innings fanning the first nine batters
he faced. He would finish with 4 innings
pitched and11K’s. BradyFix andConner
Wrightwould score runs in the4th and5th
for theA’sas theyextendedout toa9-0 lead.
In the bottom of the 6th theWhite Sox
got on the board when Joey Costa would
scoreonaKennySaunders triple. A’s relief
pitcher JakeWilliamswould shut down the
threatwith a strikeout to end the game.
Moribitopickedup thewinon themound
andwashelpedbyWilliamswhohad three
strikeouts of his ownwhile scattering one
hit over two innings. Finnigan Shelby
took the loss for theWhite Sox fanning 6
A’s batters over 2 2/3 innings before being
replaced by Josh Noble who struck out 7
in 2 1/3. Thewinmoves theA’s to 2-0 on
the seasonwhile theWhiteSox fall to0-2.
Yankees 7 Indians 1
In the topof thefirst inning the Indian’s,
ZachVanderhoof, drew awalk andwould
eventually scoreonanerror. In thebottom
of thefirst,GianniFerraraandRyanShirley
bothgothitsfor theYankees. Ferrarawould
scoreonsomeaggressivebase runningand
Shirley would score on a Ryan Higgins
sacrificeRBI. The Indianswere then held
scoreless for the remainder of the contest.
TheYankeeswouldscore4 runs in thesec-
ond inning togoup6-1.AdamWoodworth,
Brandon Shirley and Tom Condidorio all
drew walks. Giovanni Ferrara added a
base hit, and all would eventually score
offapassedball, a ConnorHageman2RBI
double and aRyanHigginsRBI single. In
the third inning theYankeesAdamWood-
worth got his first hit of his little league
career andwas scored by aGianni Ferrara
RBI single. Pitching for theYankeesRyan
Higgins completed 5 and 2/3 innings
allowing only one hit and striking out 7
batters. Gianni Ferrara finished the game
on themound for theYankees striking out
2of5batters. Pitching for the Indianswere
ZachVanderhoofandMavericMacKenzie.
Hitting for theYankees,GianniFerrarawas
3 for 3with1RBI and2 runs scored, Ryan
Shirleywas1 for 3with1 run scored,Ryan
Higgins was 2 for 3 with an RBI, Connor
Hagemanwas 2 for 3with a double and 2
RBIs,AdamWoodworthwas1 for 2witha
walkand2 runsscored, andfinallyBranden
Shirley drew awalk and scored a run.
RedSox 13 Tigers 8
TheRed Soxwere able to get their first
win of the season with a victory over the
Tigers.Thegamewould feature two12year
old starting pitchers as AdamRisewick of
the Tigerswould face JoeyBrennan of the
RedSox.
The Tigers got on the board first with
Adam Risewick and Lilly Uberty hitting
singles.Risewickwould laterscorebysteal-
inghome.TheRedSoxwouldanswerwith2
of theirown in thebottomof thefirst.Luke
CaccamiseandJohnPanepentobothscored
runs in the inning.Thesecond inningwasa
bigone for theTigers, they scored5 runs in
the frame. Runs byHolden Sullivan, Alex
Stephany, Evan Reynolds, Risewick and
RobbieNewmarkgave theTigersa6-2 lead
andwouldchaseBrennan from themound.
In the bottom of 2nd theRed Sox first two
batters were retired and with two strikes
on him Jayce Panepento recorded his first
LittleLeaguehit.Thishitwas important as
the Red Sox went on to score 3 runs with
twoouts. Jayce,CaccamiseandBrennanall
scored in the inning,making it 6-5Tigers.
No one was able to score in the 3rd
inning.ThehighlightwasZachFlansburgs
single. TheRedSoxwere able topull away
in the4th.After theTigers added2 runson
hits byUberty andRisewick, the Red Sox
came alive. Trailing 8-5 theywould put up
7 runs in the frame.HitsbyJohnPanepento,
Bryce Lathan, and Xavien Walker would
lead the charge. Those 3 plus Caccamise,
Zach Tooley, Aiden Riggi, and Flansburg
would all score.Making it 12-8.
MerritHollywould single for theTigers
in the 5th but was eventually stranded
on base.
John Panepento would round out the
scoring in thebottomof thefifth.Hesingled
and was knocked in on a single by Bryce
Lathan giving thefinal 13-8 score.
Brennan went 1 1/3 innings and struck
out 3. He was relieved by Panepento, who
struckout 11 through42/3.At theplate the
RedSoxwere ledbyLathanwhohad4hits,
Panepento had 3 hits with 3 runs scored,
andCaccamisehadahitwith3 runsscored.
Risewick pitched 4 1/3 innings with 6
strikeouts. Joey Stephany went 1 1/3 and
Ubertywent 2/3.At theplateRisewick led
the Tigers with 3 hits and 3 runs scored.
Uberty had 2 hits andHolly had one.
Twins 4 Orioles 2
The Twins and O’s would both have
theiraceson themound in thisearlyseason
showdown. Colin McCulley and Jimmy
Burnswouldmake it difficult for opposing
batters to get on base. The Orioles would
strike first. Ian Furr started the 3rd inning
with a walk. Two batters later Ty Strollo
wouldcollectasingle.Withmenonfirstand
second JimmyBurns hit a double to center
scoring two runs.
The Twins would get things going in
the fifth inning. Connor Murrell, Antonio
Martinez andAidenDaviswould all reach
base for theTwins.Withbases loadedCole
Rauscher pulled a ball down the left field
line for a triple scoring all three base run-
ners, hewould also score on the same play
due to a throwing error.
Hitswere hard to come by in this game.
Burns only gave up two hits to the Twins.
Jackson Locke had two singles and Cole
Rauscher hada triple.McCulleyalsomade
itdifficult for theO’s toget thingsgoing.He
only surrendered twohits. TyStrollohad a
single andBurns a double.
WhiteSox 9 Tigers 3
The beginning of the game saw a back
and forthbattlewith theWhite sox scoring
3 runs in the first inning, and the Tigers
scoringonce in thefirst and then scoring2
additional runs in the 3rd. With the score
tied at 3 apiece going into the 4th inning.
The White Sox then scored 3 in the 4th
inning, andcapping itoffwith3more in the
5th. Pitching for theWhiteSoxwasKenny
Saunderswhowent a completegame strik-
ingout14batters. Hitting for theWhiteSox
were:ParkerDowell2singles,FinShelbyA
double, and2singles,KennySaunderswent
4 for 4with2 singles/2doubles, and4RBI,
JoshNobel came upwith a bigdouble, and
a single for 2RBI,AlexDowell chipped in
with2singlesand2RBI,WyattDraperhad
apairof singles, andanRBI,MikeBuccina
hadadouble, andasingle,ChaseCumming
alsohadabaseknock. Combining toPitch
for theTigerswereRobbieNewmark,Lilly
Uberty,Merritt Holly, andAlex Stephany.
For theTigersAdamRisewick, andRobbie
Newmark had a strong night at the plate
with 3 singles a piece. Also pitching in
were Lilly Uberty with a well hit single,
andMerrittHollywith 2 single.
Indians 18 WhiteSox 9
The Indians andWhite Sox had a back
and forthgameonApril 30th. Thevisiting
WhiteSoxwouldstrikefirst in the topof the
1st inning when Kenny Saunders doubled
scoring Parker Dowell and Finn Shelby.
Kennywould come in to score on a sac fly
by JoshNoble. The Indianswould answer
in the bottom of the 1st after their first 7
batters reached safely. The Indians would
bat around and score 6 runs. Elijah Iten
would obtain his first Little League RBI.
TheWhite Sox would cut into the lead in
the top of the 2nd afterWyatt Draper and
Parker Dowell scored. Zach Vanderhoof
would score after walking in the bottom
of the 2nd to make it 7-5 after 2. After a
scoreless 3rd inning, theWhite Soxwould
take the lead in the top of the 4th scoring
4 runs highlighted by a 3-run home run by
KennySaunders. The seesawbattlewould
continue in the bottom of the 4thwith the
Indiansscoring4 runsof theirown. The In-
dianswouldblow thingsopen in thebottom
of the 5th inning scoring 7 runs after Zach
Vanderhoof and CoryWallace would lead
off the inningwith back to back doubles.
Hitting for the Indians were Maveric
McKenzie (single, double), Tony Piazza,
Zach Vanderhoof (single, double), Cory
Wallace (single, double), Connor McGee
(double), and Jude Sherman collecting his
first LittleLeague hit!
Hitting for the White Sox were Finn
Shelby (2singles),KennySaunders (double,
home run), AlexDowell,MikeBuccina (2
singles), andChaseCummings.
A’s 6 Orioles 5
Thesecondgameofa fun-filledSaturday
saw the A’s defeat the O’s in the alphabet
game 6-5. Conner Wright started on the
mound for the A’s and got some great de-
fense in the first inning to keep theO’s off
the board. The A’s started quickly when
back to back to back singles byBrady Fix,
ShawnMoribito and JakeWilliams would
give the A’s a 2-0 lead. Wright struck out
the side in the second andO’s starter Tyler
Strollo pitched amasterful second to keep
the score2-0. TheO’swould tie it up in the
third when Strollo helped himself with a
single that scored brother Drew and Iain
Frawley who both had reached on walks.
The score remained 2-2 until the 5thwhen
Tyler Strollowould again get things going
withasingle. Twobatters later,BenPocock
would foul off three straight pitches before
turning on a Brady Fix fastball and ham-
mering a ball over the wall in deep center
to give theO’s a 4-2 lead.
It didn’t take long for theA’s to answer
as again the top of the order would come
through. ConnorWright reachedonasingle
and was driven in by a Jackson Fix triple.
Jackson would score when brother Brady
doubled to thegapandscoredonablistering
doublebyShawnMoribito. Moribitowould
score two batters later whenMike Covert
singled inwhat would be thewinning run.
TheO’swouldn’t go away in the top of the
sixth. AdrianStevens ledoffwithasingled
and scored on a Drew Strollow single to
right. The O’s would load the bases on
walks by Frawley and Tyler Strollo before
A’s relieverMoribitowould record theA’s
17th strike out to end the game.
The A’s used the trio of Wright, Brady
Fix and Moribito to scatter 7 hits and 6
walks over 6 innings. The O’s got great
pitching from Tyler Strollo who allowed
just7hitsand4 runsover41/3beforebeing
relieved byAndrewPockockwho finished
with one strikeout in 2/3 innings.
TheA’s improve to3-0while theO’s fall
to 1-2 on this young season.
Yankees 10Tigers 9
In the top of the first inning, Yankees
lead-off hitter Gianni Ferrara would lead
off with a triple and would later score on
a sacrifice fly byConnorHageman. In the
bottomof thefirst theTiger’s lead-offhitter
AdamRisewickdrewawalkand scoredon
some aggressive base running. In the top
of thesecond,AdamWoodworthwouldget
his first double of his little league career.
Woodworth would later cross the plate on
apassedball. TheYankeesheld theTigers
scoreless in thesecond inning. In the topof
the third inning theYankeesRyanShirley,
Ryan Higgins, and Connor Hageman all
recorded base hits, Shirley added a run in
the inning by stealing home, putting the
Yankeesup3-1. In thebottomof the third,
theTigersRobbyNewmarksingledandwas
scoredbyaMeritHollyRBI single,making
the score 3-2 after 3 innings.
In the fourth inning the Yankees bats
came alive. AdamWoodworth started it
offwithhis seconddoubleof thegame and
Branden Shirley then drew a walk. Tom
Condidorio singled scoring woodworth,
followed by aRyan Shirley single to score
his brother Branden Shirley. The Yankees
clean-up hitter RyanHiggins then stepped
to theplateanddroveaball over thewall in
left center field for thefirst home runof his
little league career, putting theYankees up
8-2. Strongdefense by theYankeeswould
keep theTigers from scoring in the fourth.
In the fifth inning the Tigers would get
goingoffensivelyputtingup4 runs. Adam
Risewick lead off with a single, followed
by singles from Robbie Newmark, Merrit
HollyandLillyUberty. Allwould score in
the inning. JoeyStephanywouldalsoadda
single. After 5 complete innings the score
was 8-6 in favor of theYankees.
In the top of the sixth inning Ryan
Higgins drew a walk and scored on a past
ball at home.LandenSaevaaddedahit and
also stole home on a passed ball putting
theYankees up 10-6. However the Tigers
wouldnotgoawayquietly. AdamRisewick
lead off with a single before the Tigers
Robby Newmark would then hit his first
little leaguehome rundriving theball over
the wall in left center field. Merritt Holly
then stepped to the plate and hit a double.
Holly later scored in the inning tomake the
final10-9 in favorof theYankees. Pitching
for theYankeeswereGianni Ferrara, Tom
Condidorio and Ryan Shirley. For the
Tigers, Joey Stephanie, and Lilly Uberty.
Hitting for theYankees,GianniFerrarawas
3 for 5with a triple, RBI and 1 run scored,
TomCondidorio was 1 for 3 with a walk,
anRBI and1 run scored,RyanShirleywas
2 for 4 with 2 runs scored, Ryan Higgins
was 2 for 2 with 2 walks, a home run and
3RBIs andAdamWoodworthwent 2 for 2
with2walks, 2doubles, and2 runs scored.
For the Tigers Adam Risewick was 2 for
2 with a walk and 3 runs scored. Robby
Newmarkwas3 for4withahomerunand3
runsscored,MerrittHollywas4 for4witha
doubleand2 runsscored.LillyUbertyalso
added a hit and scored a run.
