during themonthofMarch tocap
off a winning season! The team
skated awaywith the champion-
ship at the Boulter Tournament
inWebster defeating Tri-County
(10-0),Perinton(7-2)andWebster
(10-0) in the round-robinportion
of play and then nippedPerinton
4-3 in a dramatic overtime shoot
out to claim the title! Andrew
Kasmarek, Noah Hudson, Zack
Eschberger and Mason Cook
registered hat tricks during the
2 days of play, TannerMountain
scored the teams winning shoot-
out goal and Goalie Courtney
Schum earned the tournaments’
MVP award.
The team then headed toWest
Seneca to participate in the 2nd
annualLukey’sLegacyMemorial
Tournament. Sixteen teams from
alloverWesternNYandPennsyl-
vaniabattled itouton the ice.The
Ramparts had decisive wins in
theirfirst 3gamesof playagainst
theNiagaraSharks,West Seneca
Blackhawks and the Wheatfield
Blue Hawks. Zack Eschberger
rackedupahatty in thefirstgame
against the Niagara Hawks and
skated off with the teams’ MVP
award.NoahHud-
son and Mason
Cook also gained
MVP nods in the
2ndand3rdgames
of round robin
play, respective-
ly. The Ramparts
(with14.5 tourney
points) then faced
the Bradford
Owls (with 14
tourney points) in
an action-packed
semi-final game
which kept fans
on the edge of
their seats!
The Ramparts Defensemen –
Alex Johnson, ThomasReardon,
TannerMountain andBrianVal-
year kept the Owls’ line away
from the net throughout much
of the game. AndrewKasmarek,
WillEschberger,RyanHamilton
and the other Ramparts’ For-
wards were sharp, focused and
determinedas theykept thescore
tied going into OT. The Owls
eeked out a win in heart-pump-
ing double OT shoot out…and
subsequently went on to take
the Tourney Championship in
the final game versus theAurora
Ice.CourtneySchum,goaltender,
YouthHockeyHasWinningSeason
wasnamedMVPof thesemi-final
game for the Ramparts --- she
also received a well-deserved
round of applause (and some
hoots) from the Owls as she ex-
ited the locker room post game.
While Alex’s Place Squirt A
Ramparts were duking it out in
the Semi-Final game versus the
Owls, twoof their team-members
received prestigious awards at
the GAHA (Genesee Amateur
HockeyAssociation)annualban-
quet. Courtney Schum received
the Empire Goalie of the Year
award andZackEschberger was
awarded theZac JohnsonAward
acknowledging a player that
showsdedicationandpassion for
thesportofHockey.Bothawards
are based on nominations and
votingbyparents and coaches in
the league.
