The LeRoy Knight Junior
football team outscored the 1-0
HornellRedRaidersatHartwood
Park by a score of 22-8 to notch
a win in their home opener on
August 31st.
After a long drive by LeRoy
stalled to start thegame,Hornell
respondedwith a long TD drive
and conversion to take an 8-0
lead. LeRoywould respondwith
a long touchdown drive of their
own, benefiting from excellent
blockingbyJacksonFix,Connor
McGee, RyanHiggins,Will Es-
chberger, Bryce Lathan, Bryson
Gentile, and Ayden Riggi. The
drive would end with a 10 yard
touchdown run by Landen Sae-
va, however a failed conversion
attemptwould leave theKnights
trailing 8-6 at the half.
LeRoy’s defense stepped up
big in the second half, forcing
a 3 and out on Hornell’s first
two drives. On LeRoy’s second
offensive drive of the second
half, DrewStrollowould put the
Knights in strikingdistancewith
a huge 53 yard run down to the
Hornell5yard line. Saevawould
punch it in again for his second
TD of the game, and RileyWil-
liamswould succeedon the con-
version attempt with a highlight
reel run to theorangepylon in the
corner of the end zone. LeRoy
would enter the fourth quarter
with a 14-8 lead.
The defense stood tall again,
forcing a quick turnover on
downs. The offense would re-
spond again, moving the ball
down the field methodically.
QuarterbackTommyCondidorio
would blast ahead for a 1 yard
TDandDrewStrollowouldscoot
into the end zone to make the
conversion, capping the scoring
at 22-8.

a TD. Bryce Lathan and Nate
Yauchzeealso ran theball for the
JuniorKnights.
Defensively, seventeen play-
ers made tackles as the Knights
swarmed to the ball as a group
to shut down theRedRaiders for
the final 3 quarters. In fact the
Knights defense did not allow
a first down after Hornell’s ini-
tial scoring drive. Drew Strollo
would pace the defense with
6 tackles, including 3 for loss.
Tony Piazza would add 4 tack-
les including a sack and forced
fumble. Riley Williams, Tony
Martinez, and Ryan Higgins
stood strong at the end position
with 3 tackles each including a
sack for Williams and a tackle
for loss byHiggins. JacksonFix
added 3 tackles (1 for loss) in-
cludingaTD saving tackledown
field, showcasing his speed and
hustle.With 2 tackles eachwere
BrysonGentile (1 for loss),Will
Eschberger (1 for loss), Xavien
Walker, Ben Robinson, Connor
Hegeman, Landen Saeva, Bryce
Lathan, andAyden Riggi. Cole
Friedhaber, Nate Yauchzee, and
XavierKing also added tackles.
TheLeRoyJuniorsquad travels
to York on Saturday September
6th for a 6 PMmatchup against
thePurpleKnights.
