AROUNDTOWN
The TownBoard is now in full
budget mode. I have received
budget requests fromdepartment
headsandwillbe formulating the
TentativeBudget that Iwill pres-
ent to the Board on September
11. The Board will then have a
BudgetWorkshoponSeptember
25 (there will be minimal busi-
ness conducted at this meeting
in order for the Board to focus
strictly on the Budget review).
Thiswill lead to theBoard’sPre-
liminaryBudget byOctober 9.
In keeping with my vow to
separate theBudgetHearingand
adoption dates, the PublicHear-
ing on the Preliminary Budget
willbeonOctober23.TheBoard
will adopt its final 2015 Budget
on November 13. Of course, as
the Board gets into the details
of the Budget, it may choose
to schedule additional special
budget workshop meetings. As
always, thesewill bepublicized.
At its last meeting, the Board
passed Local Law 2-2014. This
consisted of amendments to the
Noise Law (Chapter 105) in-
cluding lifting the evening time
limit to11:00PM (recommended
by the Planning Board), adding
“right to farm” language to the
exemption section (recommend-
edby thePlanningBoard), clari-
fying language for safetybackup
warning sounds onvehicles, and
decibel limitsofamplifiedmusic.
Sometimes it becomes frustrat-
ingwhenyouneedother organi-
zations/institutions to “give the
final okay” on projects you’ve
workedveryhardon. Please rest
assured theTown is still actively
pursuing the status of safety im-
provements to theRt.19Thruway
overpass, Circular Hill Rd. RR
track renovation, andnatural gas
supply to the West Bergen Rd.
area.Hopefully, Iwill havegood
newsupdatesonmore thanoneof
these projects soon.
Thank youand see youAround
Town.
