He was an attorney at law for
36 years in LeRoy, New York,
having graduated from Syracuse
University in 1956with a degree in law.
Don had been verymuch involvedwith the LeRoy community
serving as theVillage attorney for LeRoy and Caledonia, as well
as for theLeRoyCentralSchoolBoard.Hewasavestryman forSt.
Mark’sEpiscopalChurchanda trusteeof theWoodwardMemorial
Library.Hewaspresident anddirector of theNIOGALibrarySys-
tem.Healsoservedon theGirlScoutCouncil inRochester.Hewas
presidentofboth theLeRoyRotaryCluband theCommunityChest.
Don enjoyed paintingwith theAllWeatherGang, sailing on the
St. LawrenceRiver, and skiingwith family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Joy, his daughtersMartha Dressen
(David) of Belen, New Mexico) and Susan Cooney of Los
Angeles, California, his brotherWilliam of Gloversville, New
York, his sister in-lawAnnCooney of Sumter, SouthCarolina,
and several nieces and nephews.
Acelebration ofDon’s lifewill be held at
St.MarksEpiscopal Church inLeRoy, NewYork
onSeptember 20 at 11:00AM.
Donwill be remembered by all who knew and
loved him as a kind, wise, and gentleman.
OBITUARY
The LeRoy Junior Knights
couldnot overcome a slow start,
eventually falling to theGeneseo
Junior Blue Devils 26-18. Gen-
eseo opened up a 14-0 halftime
lead, sparked by a last second
touchdown pass as halftime
expired, and would withstand a
furious 4th quarter rally by the
Knights to nail down thewin.
After falling behind 20-0 ear-
ly in the 3rd quarter, LeRoy’s
offense scored on 3 consecutive
drives. Drew Strollo scored the
first touchdown on a 10 yard
scamper. Geneseo would answer
immediately with a long touch-
down,howeverLeRoy responded
quicklywitha54yard touchdown
burst byLandenSaeva. A forced
fumble by Bryson Gentile gave
theballback toLeRoyon thenext
drive and RileyWilliams closed
the gap to 26-18with an 18 yard
touchdown run.Geneseo respond-
edwith a long drive, chewing up
allbut2secondson theclock.Le-
Roy’s last ditch effort would fall
just short, as aGeneseo defender
madeashoestring tackleonSaeva
after he broke free frommultiple
defenders andmade a long run.
Drew Strollo led the Knights
offense with 118 yard rushing
(1 TD) and 20 receiving yards.
LandenSaevacompiled87yards
on the ground (1 TD) and Riley
Williams ran for46yards (1TD).
QuarterbackTommyCondidorio
added18yardson thegroundand
threw for 20 yards. Tony Piazza
ran for 15 yards. Bryce Lathan,
Jackson Fix, and Ryan Shirley
also carried the ball for LeRoy.
A multitude of defenders
madeplays forLeRoy’sdefense.
Bryson Gentile was especially
disruptivewith5 tackles, includ-
ing a sack, a tackle for loss, and
twoforcedfumbles. DrewStrollo
led the squad with 11 tackles (4
for loss) and recovereda fumble.
Will Eschberger had7 tackles (3
for loss) as did Landen Saeva
who also recovered a fumble.
