Dr. Clinton Sugnet recently
joined Place Eye Care. He
received his undergraduate
degree in Biology from SUNY
Geneseo in 2009, graduating
cum laude and an All American
swimmer. He received his
Doctor of Optometry degree with
honors from SUNY College of
Optometry in Manhattan, where
he served as his class’s Vice
President. At SUNY College
of Optometry, his internships
included primary care optometry,
pediatrics, vision therapy, ocular
disease, and contact lenses. He
has had internship rotations
through the Association for the
Blind and Visually Impaired as
well as the Syracuse VAHospital.
Dr. Sugnet is a graduate of
Penfield High School. Interests
outside of optometry include
running, swimming, horseback
riding, and spending time with
his family and friends. He is an
active alumni for SUNYGeneseo
and enjoys being involved in the
local community.
Place Eye Care is located
in LeRoy, actually Limerock,
and began over 100 years ago.
Recent searches have discovered
that Wilbur C. Place became a
registered optometrist in New
York State in 1909 and soon after
opened a practice in his home
in Caledonia. Wilbur Place was
also the mayor of Caledonia from
1924-25.
Place Eye Care is presently
owned by Dr. William Lapple,
who purchased the business
in 1987. In 2005, Dr. Lapple
affiliated the practice with Vision
Sourcewhich is a national network
of optometric practices with over
2,800 locations in the United
