The LeRoy Town & Country
Garden Club held their first
meeting of 2014 on Wednesday,
January 8th at the Presbyterian
Church. Members brought dishes
to pass and enjoyed a delightful
potluck dinner.
Lucy MacKenzie challenged
us with a quiz on How Well
We Know the Language of
Flowers. President, Ann Walters
read the Club’s Constitution
and held an election for Moira
Miller as Recording Secretary.
Continuing in office are Ann
Walters and Linda Smith, co-
presidents; Lucy MacKenzie,
Vice-President; Sue Privitera,
Corresponding Secretary; and
Sue Lints, Treasurer.
Sign-ups were done for the
2014 Hostesses and Committees.
Through the committees the Club
members actively participate
in gardening activities around
the Village of LeRoy. These
activities include decorating the
Post Office &Woodward Library
at Christmas; planting and caring
for flowers on Main Street, at the
Oatka Creek bank monument &
gazebo; and at the four Village
entrance beds.
A list of program ideas for
2014-15 was developed. Our
annual Spring Plant Auction
will be held the 2nd Wednesday
in June and is open to the public
with perennials, bulbs and
miscellaneous garden items.
The next meeting will be held
on March 12th with Marilyn
Palotti teaching us in how to
make a decorative egg ornament
for Easter. The public is welcome
to join us. Anyone interested in
attending this meeting should
contact Ann Walters at 737-9481
or 768-8130.
