at about
2:28 p.m., the LeRoy Police
received a call of a person
with a rifle on the property of
the LeRoy Sewage Treatment
Plant located on Red Mill Rd
in LeRoy. This call resulted in
a subsequent search of the area
by numerous police agencies
and criminal charges being
placed against the suspect 26
yr old Zachary R. Reed of
6949 Britt Rd in LeRoy. Reed
was charged with one count
of Obstructing Governmental
Administration, a Class A-
Misdemeanor. It is alleged that
Reed obstructed or prevented a
police officer from performing
his official function when he
failed to follow the direct or-
ders of the initial responding
LeRoy Police Officer who
confronted Reed ordering him
out of the woods with his hands
up. Reed ignored this order and
instead returned to the woods
with the gun and attempted to
leave the area. After police
set up a perimeter, Reed was
identified and contacted on
his cell phone at which time
Reed agreed to come out of the
woods. Reed met the patrols
across the creek in a cemetery
on North St where he was tak-
en into custody, but he did so
without the gun. A subsequent
search of a nearby weeded area
resulted in the recovery of the
gun. It was learned from Reed
that he was hunting squirrels in
the area with a .22 rifle. The
LeRoy Police Depa r tment
were assisted by patrols from
the New York State Police and
the Genesee County Sheriff’s
Office. Reed was released on
an appearance ticket to appear
in LeRoy Town Court on a
later date.

33 yr old Matthew R. Mc-
Quillen of 38 Lathrop Avenue
in LeRoy was a r rested on
10/10/2016 by the LeRoy Po-
lice Department and charged
with one count of Petit Larceny,
a class A-Misdemeanor. It is
alleged that on 10 / 08/2016
at about 4:00 pm, McQuillen
stole a DVD from a store locat-
ed on West Avenue in LeRoy.
McQuillen was released on an
Appearance ticket to appear
in LeRoy Town Court on a
later date.
10/04/2016
A five month investigation
into three residential burglaries
in the West Main Street area of
the Village of LeRoy concluded
on 10/04/2016 with the arrest
of Thomas A. Park age 48 by
the LeRoy Police Department.
Park is from the LeRoy/Pavil-
ion area but is currently living
in the City of Rochester. It is
alleged that during the months
of April, May and June of 2016,
Park unlawfully entered three
different residences in LeRoy
and stole items from each con-
sisting of cash jewelry and a
crossbow. It is further alleged
that Park then pawned some of
the property in Batavia. Park
was charged with three counts
of Burglary in the Second
Degree, a class C-Felony and
three counts of Petit Larceny,
a class A-Misdemeanor. Park
was arraigned before the Le-
Roy Town Court and released
RUS as he is being overseen
by Genesee Justice and the
Rochester City Drug Court.

35 year old Dean D. Root of
40 Main Street, apt 2, LeRoy
was arrested on October 7,
2016 by the LeRoy Police De-
partment and charged with one
count of Petit Larceny, a class
A-Misdemeanor. It is alleged
that on 10/07/2016, Root shop-
lifted an item from a Pharmacy
in the Village. Root was issued
an Appearance Ticket and is
to appear in the LeRoy Town
court on October 17 to answer
the charge.
