It was sunny and warm
onSunday, July17thwhen
2,000 ducks took to the
Oatka Creek for their
annual race to close out
the 2016 LeRoy Oatka
Festival. Ducks sold out
early Sunday afternoon
and the creek bank was
fullofanxiouson-lookers;
cheering their ducks with
shouts, quacks and duck
whistles.
Lucky Duck #1410 pur-
chased by Ryan Vedder
swam hard and fast to
claim thefirst place spot.
2nd and 3rd place ducks
were purchased byWJ Smith andTeri DeKruger, respectively. The
remaining winners were Denise Smith, Art Niconeto, Rebecca
Ashley, LisaMcClain,DanHorgan,AaronGarner, ErinBonaquisti
andDestinyCummings
This year’s Duck Derby supports Sunshine Nursery School and
theVietnamVeterans.
