Happy 2015! The conclusion
of 2014 and beginning of 2015
was busy for theTownBoard.
First, the Board accepted a
purchase offer for the Neid Rd.
site from the Genesee Conser-
vation Foundation for $95,000.
This organization oversees a
large tract of land, in a forever
wild state, that was part of the
Woodward Family holdings in
thepast. Their goal is to add this
acreage to theircurrentholdings.
Second, check out our new
website (still
org). I havebeenworking close-
ly with Village Trustee Mike
Tucci, LeRoy Business Council
member Jack Hempfling, Town
Bookkeeper/Secretary Laura
Brodie, and our IT guru Tony
Testa on bringing you a com-
prehensive cooperative website
fromwhich residentsandvisitors
alike may find the information
theyneed regardingLeRoy. It is
stilldefinitelyawork inprogress,
butwe hope itmakes it easier to
make one stop to gather Town,
Village, and Business Council
information. Again, if you are a
nonprofit/service organization,
sendLaura
ur
information for inclusion on the
community calendar.
The Board held its annual
reorganizationmeeting this past
Thursday. TomStellawill serve
asmyDeputySupervisor, Dave
Uberty as Deputy Superinten-
dent to John Arneth, andMary
Fee as Deputy Clerk to Patty
Canfield. Thanks to those folks
for serving in our absence. Two
major priorities for the year
will be addressed right away;
conducting an energy audit as a
means to save on electricity and
gas, and a workers’ compensa-
tion insurance review,againwith
a cost saving premium goal.
Finally, I thought itmightbe
helpful to review the status of
previous projects thatwe often
get asked about (the current
info I have):
1. Wal-Mart - still owns the
property, but we have had no
contact from themforyears- their
permits have expired and they
would need to start any process
anew (however, if this were to
happen, some previous legwork
could still be utilized).
2. Dunkin’ Donuts - they
(Wendy’s) own the property
and all preliminary work has
been completed (environmental
review, permits, etc.) and ap-
proved- theyonlyneed tosubmit
their final site plan to the Code
Enforcement Officer and they
m
ay begin construction.
3. TimHortons - this specific
project is on hold while Burger
King/TimHortonscorporate iron
out merger issues- however, the
owner of the Podmall may still
proceed with a drive through
window concept apart from
the brand name- if so desired,
various issues (mostly traffic
flow)mustbeaddressedwith the
PlanningBoard.
4. ESL kiosk - all plans for
this project on West Main Rd.
havebeenapprovedby theTown-
apparently there are still some
NYSDOT issues that need to be
addressed byESL.
5. Mercygrove - has been
sold and process is underway to
approve zoning and special use
permits for a small hotel/confer-
ence center project.
6. GCEDC project - still ne-
gotiatingwithRochesterGasand
Electric for commercial service
to the site.
7. Water District #10 - infor-
mation has been sent to NYS
Comptroller’s Office for ap-
proval- oncewe get that, formal
application for funding will be
sent to USDA Rural Develop-
ment-stillworkinghard tosecure
additionalgrantmonies to reduce
residential costs.
If there are any significant
changes to any of these projects,
restassured that Iwill informyou
in keepingwithmy pledge from
three years ago. Thank you and
see youAroundTown.
