Callboard - Volume XX • Issue 1 • Spring 2023 www.tanys.org Page 3 Report from the Prior Festival Chair Festival 2022 was a success and Rome Community Theater has been proud to fulfill its initial two-year Festival commitment in four years. RCT provided TANYS with its 60th anniversary “TANYS is Forever” Festival in 2019, a “Happy Together” Festival in 2021 and concluded with the “TANYS Family Reunion” in 2022. All three Festivals provided the audience with quality shows, creative skits and games and lots of local Italian food. RCT's run as Festival host ended appropriately in 2022 with a Central New York snowstorm that ultimately dumped 15 inches of snow at the Theater that Sunday. All in all, being a Festival Chair for all three Festivals brought considerable sleep deprivation but ended each time with excitement for carrying out the TANYS tradition of Festival excellence. As I said with my closing remarks, any Festival could not succeed without a lot of help. TANYS VP of Festival Ann Frame continuously answered all of my urgent calls or texts for help. Cindy Nagle bailed me out at the hotel a few times over the years, gave me sound financial advice and provided moral support with some last-minute schedule juggling in 2022. Many other TANYS volunteers worked all three Festivals with “whatever I needed.” Locally, the RCT planning committee of Barb Seaton, Chris Galin, Arnie Galin, Laura Sharp, Mike Sharp, Ella Alsheimer, Sharon Parker and AJ Parker stood by me, helped plan/carry out all three Festivals willingly and helped in areas I could not have imagined when we first decided to make our two-year Festival run. My RCT stage crew led by John Frank and John Doiron performed superbly at all three Festivals as well, which enabled me to cross that time consuming job off my list. I would be remiss if I also did not mention the thirty or so other folks who came and volunteered from RCT during the Festivals. Now, it is back in my life to the job of supporting TANYS as past Festival Chair and Administrative Secretary. As a reminder, the adjudication window for Festival consideration in 2023 ends October 21 as the actual Festival dates are one week earlier - November 10-12. The TANYS Festival has been a part of my life for over 30 years and I look forward to being able to watch the shows for the first time since 2018! See you all at Indian River in November! As I say to many of you in my secretary role, “Proud to Serve TANYS.” John Parker, RCT Harlequin Productions of Cayuga Community College Adjudicators' Discretionary Award for Ensemble Acting The Texas Tower Project: August 1, 1966
