After such a long stretch of limited productions, and limited personal contact, it is what we all needed. I think we can safely say that community, collegiate and high school theatre is finally back on its feet and looking into a healthy future. The TANYS adjudicators have been quite busy this year and are looking forward to your continued requests for adjudications. So keep them "roving." I want to thank the Rome Community Theater folks for their patience and perseverance over the past four years for graciously mounting three very successful Festivals. John Parker and his crew of volunteers certainly deserve a standing ovation! We can now look forward to moving to the North Country (Watertown) for the next two years. These next two Festivals will have a special meaning for me as Watertown is my hometown and where I began my love of theatre. My work with Watertown Lyric Theatre, Little Theatre of Watertown, and the Dionysian Players of Jefferson Community College inspired me to pursue theatre as a career. And now here I am in my 35th year as a Board Member and second presidency of TANYS. I owe a lot to those three organizations. So, I hope you will join us in the fun and camaraderie that I know will be a hallmark of Festivals '23 and '24 at the beautiful Indian River High School Theatre of the Performing Arts. Remember: this year's will occur one week earlier, November 10, 11 and 12. In closing I would like to publicly thank AACT and Bob Frame for presenting me with the 2022 Robert E. Gard Superior Volunteer Award at the 2022 TANYS Festival. That was a totally unexpected honor and I will be forever grateful to both Bob and AACT. This photo shows Bob Frame and Frances Ruoff presenting the award to me. "Take a bow," all of you who make great theatre in New York - you deserve it! Michael C.
