We are excited to bring TANYS Festival 2023 to you from the Indian River Theatre of the Performing Arts in Philadelphia… New York, not Pennsylvania. After many years in Central and Western New York, it is a great opportunity to showcase near- the-Canadian-border Northern New York. We are hoping that the weather has gotten all of the blizzards out of the way this year so that we will have a snow-free Festival weekend 2023. Please note that the Festival will be held a week earlier than normal due to a conflict at the performing facility. So, mark your calendars for November 10- 12, 2023. The 2023 Festival will have a strong focus on community. Four local community theatre groups (Little Theatre of Watertown, Watertown Lyric Theater, Carthage Little Theatre and Stage Notes) and the Thespian Troupe and Stage Crew from Indian River High School’s Theatre Department are collaborating to bring you a fun and educational weekend of theatrical performances and activities. We are looking forward to bringing workshop opportunities back to the TANYS Festival, since we have a strong focus on theatre education, both in and out of the school setting. With top-notch facilities in the school, we can’t wait to showcase all of the art and talent that comes from New York theatre organizations. We chose a theme near and dear to our hearts after we heard about the announced closure of The Phantom of the Opera after decades on Broadway Several of our hometown favorites have performed in Phantom so it only seemed appropriate to celebrate this milestone and end of an era in our annual Festival. We look forward to sharing our "Masquerade Memories" with you and making many more memories at the 2023 TANYS Festival!
