It was great to be all together again seeing live theater performed on the RCT stage. It was a lot of fun to see our old friends again taking part in the Festival. At this Festival, there were many awards given including the Merit Awards given during the year which are listed on the TANYS website. All shows adjudicated virtually received awards at Festival including Outstanding Production, Acting, Playwriting, Direction and various technical elements. In addition, Festival Adjudicator Joan Luther presented Festival awards for the productions seen at the Festival from Rome Community Theater, Harlequin Productions of Cayuga Community College, Sullivan County Dramatic Workshop, and Auburn Players Community Theatre. The virtual and Festival awards presented are listed later in this Callboard . There were 9 , I repeat 9 , BMI Supply Design Competition entries submitted for Festival! Eight were displayed at RCT and the other was a virtual entry. Judge Dianna Angell presented the awards which were shown onscreen during the Annual Meeting as Ms. Angell described them. These awards are also illustrated in this Callboard . I wish to thank my RCT planning committee, my RCT volunteers, the TANYS Board and volunteers, Festival Adjudicator Joan Luther and BMI Design judge Dianna Angell, and especially Paul Nelson for assisting the registrar with COVID-19 vaccination requirements during the Festival. Entrance to the facility was handled seamlessly following the extensive but important TANYS Board guidelines. Lastly, I wish to thank the Festival participants who not only had their show adjudicated during the season but put forth a quality production at Festival. RCT is actively planning Festival 2022 and we are looking forward to hosting the TANYS Family Reunion which is further described in this newsletter. John Parker, Festival Chair Rome Community Theater After the virtual AACTFest in 2021, AACT is excited to start its Festival Cycle for the in-person AACTFest 2023, which will be held June 12-17, 2023 in Louisville, Kentucky. More information will be forthcoming on this celebration of some of the best that community theatre has to offer. This year’s TANYS Festival is the first step that a NY company must take to appear on the AACTFest stage before a national audience. Plan a show with a TANYS for-Festival Adjudication now if you are interested in taking this step. But in the meantime, this summer is when community theatres from across the globe will come to Florida to perform - and you’re invited! Featuring shows from around the globe, parties, workshops, and more, AACT WORLDFEST 2022- taking place June 20-26, 2022 - will be a week- long community theatre festival in Venice, Florida, on the state's beautiful southwest coast. Hosted by Venice Theatre and AACT, the Festival is a delight from start to finish. Besides enjoying a world- wide theatre experience, there's beachcombing, sightseeing, delightful dinners, afterglow gatherings, impromptu drum circles, and “lobby gabs”- adding up to a recipe for a memorable experience, and lifelong, global friendships.
