The Fredric Blumberg Distinguished Volunteer Award was presented to Ms. Sonia Berlin of Oswego NY. This award is given to an individual volunteer under 65 who has served a community theatre faithfully for 15 years or more. Ms. Berlin was nominated by the Oswego Players for her service on their Board and for her many, many hours spent in uncountable other production positions she has fulfilled in the organization since the early 2000s. As Mr. Paul McKinney, Vice President of the Oswego Players, noted in the nomination materials: “Sonia Berlin exemplifies every quality one could hope for in a loyal volunteer and supporter of community theatre.” Also at the Festival, the TANYS Regional Service Award was presented to Ms. Amy Canfield of Rochester NY. This award was given for Amy’s outstanding work in the development, promotion and management of the ‘Pandemic Play Reading Series of the Rochester Area.’ During the shuttered two-year period of the pandemic, this virtual online series provided a weekly creative outlet for many of Rochester’s theatrical artists. By the presentation of these awards, the Board of Trustees of TANYS is proud to congratulate these two wonderful women for their contributions to the art of community theatre. BRAVA! Michael C.
