TANYS conducts a silent auction full of many items donated by theater companies or individuals coming to Festival. Artwork, jewelry, gift baskets, theatre-themed items, Festival-themed items and regional items from your part of the state are examples of what we've had donated in the past. Don't feel limited by this list - be creative and have fun with it! We ask that all donations note a value amount, so we can determine a good price to start the bidding. Make sure you bring your cash or your plastic. Our motto is “Bid high and bid often.” The more money raised, the more money is provided to our Festival winners for further competition. Membership Raffle When you become a TANYS member or renew your TANYS membership at Festival, you'll be entered into a drawing for some FABULOUS prizes which are given away at the Sunday annual meeting. Banquet Costume Contest At the Saturday banquet, you are invited to dress up as your favorite character representative of the theme “The TANYS Family Reunion.” The concept is based on the famed Addams Family so we hope you will use your imagination and enter. The winner, selected by the Festival adjudicators, receives a prize. 50-50 Raffle We'll hold one or more 50-50 raffles at the Festival. Funds raised from the raffle(s) will support Festival winners going on to ESTA. Banquet Centerpiece Contest At the Banquet, plan to bring a kooky/spooky centerpiece to your table representative of the theme. Once again, the adjudicators will select the winning entry for a prize. Entertainment The Festival committee is once again planning a theme-based skit to set the mood and kick off the festivities with panache! At the Banquet during happy hour from 6-7PM, the Festival committee will be featuring Rome’s “Broadway Babes” 3 women group singing Broadway and Jazz tunes. Other planned entertainment will be announced at the Banquet. Lastly, at the Afterglow, TANYS is working on a scavenger hunt where attendees answer various written questions. Whoever gets the most correct answers wins a prize given out on Saturday. Concessions The Festival will be selling coffee, tea, soda, candy and other items in our concession area. So, on breaks or prior to the start of a session be sure to stop by and purchase items (which can be brought into the theater). If you have purchased an RCT coffee mug at prior Rome ESTA or TANYS Festivals, be sure to bring it--- your hot beverages will be FREE and we all know how cold November can get in Central New York! Mugs will be on sale for $5 at the event. Jewelry/Better than Bernie Mittens Sale We'll have a great assortment of donated costume jewelry for sale, with proceeds supporting the Festival. Stop by and purchase some bling for the banquet! Also for sale will be homemade Better than Bernie Mittens (pictured below). The name alludes to the mittens Bernie Sanders wore during the last Presidential inauguration. They're made from recycled sweaters. I can personally attest to their warmth, as I wore them all winter last year! Bring your wallets for these great items! Outside of the theatrical performances, Festival 2022 will feature lots of other fun stuff. Questions can be directed to Festival Chair John Parker. To enjoy these other activities, plan to come to the theater at least a half-hour prior to the start of a session or during any scheduled breaks.
