Callboard - Volume XIX • Issue 2 • Fall 2022 www.tanys.org Page 7 2022 BMI Supply Design Competition Since 2008, BMI Supply, Inc. of Glens Falls has been sponsoring the design competition and exhibition at the annual TANYS festival. TANYS is pleased to announce that BMI has agreed once again to sponsor this competition. We're very grateful for their continued support and sponsorship and we encourage all TANYS members to patronize their business. In 2022, the BMI Supply Design Competition will once again be judged by Dianna Angell, theater professor at Syracuse University and Associate Director of Production at Syracuse Stage. Last year Dianna judged 9 entries, the largest number for an in-person Festival in recent memory. The competition is open to all New York State community theatre shows produced after November 1, 2021 whether they were adjudicated by TANYS or not. Entries can be either virtual or in-person. A 500-word maximum Design Statement is required of all entrants. You can also call out your research in this statement. Each entry requires 1-3 pictures of the work. If available you can also add sketches and other paperwork. All entries must follow closely the entry guidelines at tanys.org/BMI-Design-Competition.html and must include the completed entry form at this link. Please note that space requirements must be followed, and a brief description of the entry must be provided on the entry form. Start your planning now! TANYS audiences want to see your great work entered and displayed. All entries MUST be received by November 11, and in-person entries must be brought to Festival no later than 10AM November 19 (November 18 is preferred). The BMI award ceremony will kick off the afternoon performance session on Saturday, November 19. TANYS is always looking for ways for the organization to grow. In doing so, we welcome comments and suggestions emailed to info@tanys. org. We are considering conducting some workshops in spring 2023. What would you like to see? Did you participate in one previously that was SO GOOD you would like to see us offer it to our membership? TANYS is also always looking for volunteers to serve on our Board of Trustees. To be considered, contact TANYS Past President Colleen Law-Tefft (dramamom@twcny.rr.com) by November 1. There are presently two vacancies for next year that need to be filled, and in the future we may need volunteers for adjudication, finance or other roles. Join the board now to get acquainted with their duties! The TANYS Board meets 3-4 times a year including at Festival. Please consider offering your talents! You could be important in making TANYS a stronger and more viable organization. We would love to hear from you.
