LeRoy Senior Football - LeRoy 26 - York 0 Undefeated LeRoy squared off with 5-1 York on a windy Sunday afternoon, with a trip to the CYFL champion- ship game on the line. Despite uncharacteristic sloppy play by LeRoy, they were able to notch their 5th shutout in 7 games and punched their ticket to the CYFL championship game in 2 weeks. A booming kickoff by Zach Tooley gave the ball to York deep in their own territo- ry. Stifling defense by LeRoy forced a quick turnover on downs, giving the ball to Le- Roy on the York 15. However York’s defense showed up in a big way, and forced a turnover on downs of their own. LeRoy’s defense forced a quick punt from deep in York’s territory, and Jackson Fix took care of the rest. Fix received the punt at around the 22 yard line and took it the distance for Le- Roy’s first TD of the day. Drew Strollo hit Tommy Condidorio with the pass to convert the 2-point play after, giving LeRoy the early 8-0 edge. LeRoy’s defense again forced a turnover on downs, giv- ing the ball back to their offense around midfield. However a fumble on the next play would give York new life. The LeRoy defense did not budge, giving the ball back to the offense once again without giving up a first down. However 2 plays later, the sloppy play continued with another lost fumble. York’s offense was able to move the chains once on their next possession; however consecutive tackles for loss by Drew Strollo and Adam Wood- worth gave the ball back to Le- Roy. Runs by Strollo and Tony Piazza moved the ball within the red zone, where Cal Kou- kides outran several defenders to the pylon for a 15 yard TD. The conversion attempt failed, leaving the score at 14-0 Oatkan Knights. LeRoy’s defense dug in again on the last possession of the half, moving to halftime with the same score. LeRoy started with the ball in the second half, and again would turn it over with a lost fumble. Again the LeRoy de- fense responded, this time when the X-man, Xavien Walker climbed the ladder to intercept a ball over a much taller receiver. LeRoy’s offense took advantage of the turnover, as 3 plays lat- er Jackson Fix sped down the field for an electrifying 66 yard TD run. The conversion failed, however the LeRoy lead now stood at 20-0 early in the 3rd quarter. LeRoy’s defense stood tall again, forcing a punt which the X-Man returned for 13 yards deep into York territory. Anoth- er LeRoy fumble gave the ball back to York; however on the very next play Hunter Beverly recovered a fumble to give Le- Roy the ball back. This time LeRoy capitalized behind a nice run from Adam Woodworth and a sweet pass from Tommy Con- didorio to Cal Koukides, putting the ball at the York 3 yard line. Tony Piazza rumbled in from there, scoring the TD and ex- tending the score to 26-0 early in the 4th stanza. LeRoy’s de- fense would not budge for the rest of the game, not allowing a first down. The offense used ball control offense to move the ball deep inside York territory to finish off the Golden Knights. Jackson Fix led the scoring attack with 64 yards on the ground and a TD as well as a punt return TD. Cal Koukides ran for 15 yards and a TD and also caught a pass for13 yards.
