Snow in April??? I guess as
WesternNewYorkersweshould
be ready for this, but it is still
shocking. Hopefully this is the
last hurrah.
This week we held a parent
communicationmeeting regard-
ing the changes that are coming
to the Wolcott Street School in
regards to the R.I.T.E. Project.
I want to review some of the
key points that were discussed.
While I have shared this infor-
mation a couple of weeks ago,
I feel that we can’t
communicate this
informationenough.
Bus Loop Re-
location:
Bus drop
off andpickupwill
bemoved toTrigon
Park for the remain-
derof theyear.This
means that there
will be no parent
drop off or pick up
during the hours of
8:30-9:00 am or
2:55-3:20 pm
. Only bus traffic will be allowed in Trigon Park
during these times.
There will be
no
access
to the
WSS
building through
thecurrentbusen-
trance or Stanley
Street
.We are sug-
gesting that
ALL
morning drop offs
occur on Wolcott
Street and to avoid
Trigon altogether.
Dismissal:
In
order to facilitate
a safe and efficient
dismissal process
forourstudents, studentswalking
or those being picked upwill be
held in two locations within the
buildinguntil thebuseshavebeen
dismissed,
approximately 3:20
p.m.
Familieswill need tomake
a plan to pick up their children
either from Wolcott Street or
Trigon entrances at 3:20. The
3:20 time is important. Youwill
not be able to enter Trigon until
after the buses depart at 3:20, so
therewillbenoplace toparkand
wait.
StanleyPlaceandtheback
bus loopentranceswillbecom-
pletely closed to traffic. Also
please, if at all possible, trynot
to schedule appointments that
require you to pick your child
up between 3:00-3:30 for the
months ofMay and June.
Lunches:
The project is
calling for acomplete renovation
of theWSS cafeteria. Thesewill
start the first week in June.Mrs.
Locke anticipates a continued
lunchprogram, but theremaybe
limitedchoices for theshort time
until the end of the year.
Playground:
The School
playgroundwillnotbeaccessible
startingMay2ndandwill remain
off limits until the fall of 2016.
Completiondate isdependent on
weather and other construction
work happening simultaneously.
Band andChorus:
Chorus
andBandwill be held at the Jr.-
Sr. High School for the months
of
September and October
. If
you normally bring your child,
you will need to bring them to
thehigh school. If theynormally
ride thebus, theywill bebrought
directly to thehigh school.After
the rehearsal, all children will
be bussed back to the Wolcott
Street School.Remember, this is
notuntilSeptemberandOctober,
but it is important that you start
thinking about this now. If your
childnormallywalks to rehearsal
and youwould like them bussed
in the fall, please contact the
TransportationDepartment
as
soon as possible to alert them to
this change.
Speaking of changes, just a
reminder, if for some reason
you need to make a change for
afternoon pick up or bussing
for your child, we need this in
writing
. This is the safest way
to ensure your child will get to
where they are supposed to go.
Phonecalls, especially late in the
day, arenotacceptable.Whilewe
understand emergencies occur,
andwewill alwayswork to sup-
port you in these difficult times,
we know that these are few and
far between.
We ask that you
please follow the protocol to
limit changes, and if you do
need to change, that these are
communicated tous inwriting.
Thank you!
