Callboard

www.tanys.org Callboard - Volume XVIII • Issue 1 • Spring 2021 Page 4 Note From The 2021 Festival Chair Rome is burning….. for live theater. Rome Community Theater has the honor and the privilege of hosting Festival 2021 from November 19- 21. Our planning committee is working to put on an exciting Festival to celebrate getting over these pandemic blues. You can plan on similar, but better events than TANYS 2019. We are planning on the same Festival Hotel, the Hampton Inn on Floyd Ave. and similar venues for the banquet and other festivities. We will be featuring a live AND a virtual BMI design competition so get your entries ready! The Fall Callboard, as it usually does, will give the plan details so I hope you all look forward to that! We are using the theme we selected last year, “The TANYS Family Reunion” based on the Addams Family. We are looking forward to this in-person reunion, given the 2020 Festival was virtual. We will be selling merchandise with a logo based on this theme and hope to see characters such as Morticia, Uncle Fester and Lurch at the banquet. So, set the dates aside NOW! We hope to see you all there! As always, with any questions please contact me, John Parker, at jparker3531@twcny.rr.com . Note From The TANYS Administrative Secretary A few items of note which occurred over the last year. During the pandemic in 2020, a vote for the TANYS Board was conducted via an email to the membership and results compiled via Survey Monkey. At the 2020 Virtual Annual Meeting, the results were announced. The minutes to the 2019 Annual Meeting, the 2020 Administrative Secretary Report and the TANYS 2020 Financial Reports were approved by those who voted. In addition, TANYS approved the slate of officers as presented. Elected to the Board was VP of Adjudication Services – Paul Nelson; VP of Festival – Ann Frame; and At-Large Board Members Jane Jenkins, Kristie Farr, Roger Paolini, Gary DeWitt Marshall, Karen Christina Jones and Joey Bucheker. For 2021, at the Festival Annual Meeting, a slate of officers will be presented to the membership for approval. The slate will include a President-Elect (who will then assume the presidency of the organization in 2023), Treasurer (currently held by Cindy Nagle), and 4 members at large (currently held by Craig Hutchison, Bob Frame and Joey Bucheker- -the fourth position is currently vacant). If anyone is interested in joining the Board at any of these positions, please contact Colleen Law-Tefft by May 1st at dramamom@twcny.rr.com who is responsible for creating the slate for election. Just as last year, due to the pandemic, TANYS is waiving late fees for an organization paying their TANYS membership. Thus, the basic rate to join will not rise from $75 as it does in a normal year. This is reflected in the forms in this issue of Callboard. We hope your organization is doing well financially, and hope you consider rejoining TANYS and taking advantage of our adjudication services mentioned in this issue of Callboard. Individual membership fees are also the same as last year so we hope those of you who have not yet renewed will do so TODAY! TANYS appreciates your support. As previously announced as well, TANYS is allowing member companies and individuals who earned coupons for free adjudications, free Festival session admissions and free Festival superpasses due to higher levels of membership to use them throughout 2021. Lastly, nominations of high school seniors for the Ruth R. Legg Memorial Scholarship are due no later than May 1st so we hope our current individual and organizational members consider nominating students. We would LOVE to award this to a deserving senior this year. As always, if you have any questions on this or the organization contact me, John Parker at info@tanys.org . Hope to see you at Festival 2021!
