Callboard - Volume XVII • Issue 1 • Spring 2020 www.tanys.org Page 3 Gretchen Woodworth Costume Contest Winner Banquet Awards Finger Lakes Community College TANYS Festival 2019 Wrap-up and Festival 2020 “TANYS is Forever” is “a wrap”. Rome Community Theater provided TANYS Festival attendees with 10 fine shows adjudicated by Annette Procunier, Jumbo Schimpf, and Rose Bonczek. The top two shows de- termined by the adjudicators were “Smudge Stick Experience” from Rochester’s Dark Blue Mondaze and “All Around the Table” from Harlequin Productions of Cayuga Community College. The Harlequin production had to decline their invitation to perform at the Eastern States Theater Association Festival and in accordance with TANYS procedures was to be replaced by “Funeral Parlor” from Limelight Productions of Rochester. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 virus, the Sherman C. Ward Jr. Celebration of Original Works (ESTAF- est 2020) was cancelled so our fine shows were not able to perform again. See further pages of this issue for other awards given at the Festival. In addition, at TANYS 2019, Paul Nelson and the TANYS adjudicators presented the companies in attendance their 2019 merit awards at Saturday’s banquet held at the Delta Lake Inn. The banquet also featured a short set of music from the Rome Blues Brothers Band. In attendance were many costumed characters including James Bond and costume contest winner Pussy Galore. Pictures of this event and others taken by Festival photographer Arnold Galin are included in this newsletter. It is now on to Festival 2020 still currently planned to be held at Rome Community Theater November 20- 22, 2020. John Parker, Festival chair, announces that the selected theme is “The TANYS Family Reunion”, based on the Addams Family. Currently the family theme is relevant and continually in the news due to the current world events. And, what better than a reunion with our TANYS friends back in Rome, NY after this crisis calms down? We hope to see characters such as Morticia, Uncle Fester and Lurch at the banquet. So, set the dates aside NOW! We hope to see you all there!
