Among her lead roles at Auburn High School, she played her namesake Princess Fiona in Shrek the Musical . At AHS, Fiona participated in Orchestra, Chamber Singers and Select Choir Ensemble, and also took Music Theory. Fiona has also performed with Rhythm in Motion dance studio, and has done several shows with Auburn Players Community Theatre (APCT), including Li’l Abner , Scrooge: The Musical and Beauty and the Beast Jr. She replaced an original actor in APCT’s remounting of Antigone and Letters to Soldiers Lost , which won Best Long Production at the 2021 TANYS Festival – and where the audience enjoyed one of her special skills, playing the ukulele. “From participating in theatre, I have learned to be courageous, hard-working and ambitious. Those traits will lead me to a successful academic and musical life, wherever I end up,” notes Fiona. “This scholarship will help me achieve my long-term education and career goals of spreading joy and my passion for theatre everywhere I go.” At Fredonia, Fiona looks forward to learning new things, and teaching others new things by expressing characters and stories while onstage – inspiring people and helping them experience different lives. “Educational and community theatre can serve as a safe space and act as another family to a lot of people… it can really be an outlet for someone who has no other place that they can go.” Congratulations, Fiona! TANYS wishes you much success at SUNY Fredonia!
