LE ROY PENNYSAVER & NEWS - MAY 1, 2022 Tigers vs. Orioles - The very first game of the 2022 Le Roy Little League season was a match-up of the Orioles against the Tigers. On a chilly morning the Orioles started off the game with hot bats as Sammy Bogue, Andreas Condidorio and Benito Bautista all got hits to give the Orioles an early 2-0 first inning lead. The Tigers clawed back to tie the game up on the 2nd inning. The game went back and forth the entire game until the Tigers were able to take a 8-6 lead going into the top of the 6th. Ryker Vangalio came in in relief and struck out all three batters he faced to save the victory for the Tigers who start off the season 1-0. Drew Beachel pitched 5 solid innings for the Tigers and Reece Przybyl went 3-3 at the plate. Red Sox 14 Twins 10 - The Red Sox and Twins needed an extra inning to decide their game on Opening Day. The Red Sox used a five run seventh inning to seal the victory. Colton Halladay and Paul Winters combined for 16 strikeouts and only allowed two walks. Offensively, the RedSoxwere ledbyColtonHalladay who went 4-5 with a triple. Roland Goodenough who had a huge triple in the third inning, which scored two runs. Paul Winters also went 4-5 with a double. Peyton Privitera, Matthew McCully, and Kylie Wilson combined for 12 strikeouts for the Twins. Eddie Lathan had a great day at the plate going 4-4. Kylie Wilson had a double, and Ben Geitner smashed a triple. Yankees 5 Red Sox 2 - The Yankees and Red Sox kicked of their 2022 Little League seasons with an exciting game on the Leagues 70th Opening Day. The Yankees used dominant pitching and timely hitting to come away with a 5-2 win. Anthony Warner recorded 9 strikeouts and allowed only a clean single by Drew Beachel and 2 infield hits as he finished 2 outs away from a complete game. Jude Christ came in to relieve Warner and struck out the game’s final 2 batters to earn the save. Offensively Christ led the Yanks with a double, 3 runs scored, and he reached base safely in all 3 of his plate appearances. Michael Warner drove in 2 runs for the Yanks including a big 2 out RBI in the bottom of the 5th inning to give the Yankees a much needed insurance run. Defensively Blake Fetzer make a great catch in centerfield, and Blake Bericree made several nice plays at second base to help the Yankees. Daniel Winters and Ethan Rose combined on a strong pitching effort for the Red Sox that included 10 strikeouts. LeRoy Little League Volunteers will be available to help you unload your vehicle.
