LE ROY PENNYSAVER & NEWS - APRIL 18, 2021 LeRotary Notes The Rotary Club of LeRoy gathered virtually on April 7, 2021, with 17 members present and one guest, Robert Morrow from DundasValley SunriseRotary Club, Ontario, Canada. President Mary Margaret welcomed everyone. Amy Leone led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance followed by a prayer by Bob Carlsen. President Mary Margaret shared announcements. Mary Young is collecting books for the upcoming R.E.A.L. at the LeRoy Farmers Market. Please get in touch with Mary if you have books to donate. Shannon Karcher reminded the club of the guided hike at the Genesee County Park on April 25th. The group will meet at 8:30 am. The hike will be about 1.5 to 2 miles with little challenge other than mud. Shannon also reminded the club of the upcoming Shred-it event on May 8, 2021, in the parking lot of OrCon. The event will be from 8:00-Noon. It will be a drive-thru event where people will be able to have their documents safely shredded. People will be able to pay $10.00 per banker-sized box or medium kitchen bag. The event is secure and all documents will be shredding onsite by Shred-it. Ben Daragan shared about the upcoming virtual Rotary Leadership Institute which will be held virtually beginning this month. Each Rotarian would have an email about RLI and registering. Randy Vink shared birthdays for those present. President Mary Margaret had a birthday in March and Jake Whiting would be celebrating inApril. President Mary Margaret moved on to missed meetings. Missed meetings were sanctioned to Dasha Halladay (1), and Randy Vink (1). Neither had any makeups and were fined. President Mary Margaret moved on to the fining session. Dasha Halladay was fined for her son playing Little League in LeRoy again this season. Dasha is looking forward to being able to watch her son play. President Mary Margaret fined Martha Bailey for her kindness with visiting and meals while Scott Ripley recovered from his heart attack. President Mary Margaret then said she would be paying Martha’s fine. The program was presented by fellow Rotarian Robert Morrow. Robert’s presentation focused on the various fellowships that are within Rotary International. Fellowships focus on recreational activities, hobbies, sports, vocations, and Rotary History and Culture. There are currently over 80 Rotary Fellowships. Fellowships range from beer, gin, motorcycling, educators, rowing, etc. Fellowships are a great way to network but also share your own passion with those of similar interests. President Mary Margaret thanked Robert for presenting and adjourned at 1:00 pm.
