LE ROY PENNYSAVER & NEWS - OCTOBER 28, 2018 LeRoy Senior Knights Submitted by: Joseph Bogue The Senior Knights completed their undefeated regular season with wins over Warsaw, Genesee Valley Bills and Cal Mum. The Knights beat the Warsaw Tigers 44-12 in week 6 while scoring their most points of the season. The Knights scoring came on touchdown runs of 49 yards and 9 yards by Jude Sherman, 1 yard and 4 yards by Jake Higgins, 1 yard by Aaric Luce, much to the delight of his linemen teammates, and 48 yards by Connor Elmore. Jake Higgins also connected with Adam Woodworth for an 8 yard touchdown pass and Alex Spezzano and Zander Cole connected on a pass for a PAT. Statistically, Jude Sherman led the Knights on offense with 9 carries for 105 yards and 2 touchdowns. Jake Higgins added 2 touchdown runs to go with his 9 carries for 87 yards. Higgins also had a touchdown pass. Adam Woodworth carried 5 times for 87 yards. Woodworth was on the receiving end of the touchdown pass from Higgins. Connor Elmore had 4 carries for 48 yards and score. Aaric Luce had a touchdown on 1 carry. Noah Kaczanwoski ran 3 times for 22 yards and Joey Reschke twice for 11 yards. Sherman led the Knights defense with 8 tackles followed by Adam Woodworth with 3.5 tackles. JoeyReschke andWyatt Draper recorded 3 tackles a piece. Also adding tackles were Peter Clark, Aaric Luce, Jack Egeling, Brayden Chase, Tavis Landen, Colin Kazmierczak, Jayce Panepento, Cole Tonzi and Holden Sullivan. Week 7 would bring the Genesee Valley Bills to Hartwood Park for a game that would ultimately decide who will represent the North Division in the Championship Game (This Sunday at LeRoy 2:00). GVB would bring their 1 loss record to town. GVB entered the game having scored a combined 164 points in their first 6 games. Not this week. The LeRoy defense would prove to be up to the challenge allowing 1 first down while shutting out the Bills 28-0. Leading the Knights on offense was Jake Higgins with 20 carries for 124 yards including touchdown runs of 41 yards and 1 yard. Higgins also successfully completed 2 PAT attempts. Jude Sherman had 71 yards on 11 carries. Adam, Bucha, Woodworth scored a TD to go with his 38 yards on 10 carries. Connor Elmore added a touchdown of 69 yards. Rounding out the offense for the Knights was Jack Egeling with 28 yards. Zander Staba led the Knights on Defense with 7 tackles followed by Sherman, Higgins, DJ O’Geen and Woodworth with 3 tackles. Peter Clark, Wyatt Draper and Jack Egeling recorded 2 tackles. Aaric Luce, Holden Sullivan and Cole Tonzi recorded a tackle a piece. Jack Higgins also had an interception. The final game of the regular season would be match up of longtime rivals as the Red Raiders of Cal Mum came to town. LeRoy would complete the regular season with back to back shut outs beating Cal Mum 32 – 0. Jake Higgins led the charge on offense with 97 yards on 12 carries a touchdown and PAT. Jack Egeling scored a TD to go with 18 yards, Joey Reschke gained 17 yards on 6 carries, Connor Elmore had 4 touches for 17 yards. Having spent the whole year paving the way for their running back teammates, Peter Clark and DJ O’Geen scored touchdowns of their own. DJ O’Geen punched it in from 3 yards out and Peter Clark scored on a 31 yard run. The Senior Knights host the Dansville Mustangs for the CYFL Championship Sunday, October 28 at Hartwood Park. 2:00 Kick Off. Annual Halloween Parade Wednesday October 31st 6 pm Meet in the Bank Street parking lot behind the Bank of Castile at 5:45 pm.
