Team Captians, Issac Stella and Jeremiah Sheehan point of emphasis was to start fast, pressure the passing game, and gang tackle York’s powerful running back, Trent Englert. On York’s first play from scrimmage Issac Stella forced a fumble that Jude Christ recovers. LeRoy takes over on offense and Colin Green darts 34 yards down to the 2 yard line. Stella and Sheehan make dreams come true as Sheehan fires out, and blocks a huge hole for Stella who scores easily. The 2 point conversion would fail and LeRoy quickly leads 6-0. York on offense again gets introduced to Mike Fortuna (Tuna) & Simon Green. The 4th grade standouts both throttle the ball carrier for losses on consecutive plays. Simon and Tuna would have help on defense from LeRoy’s newest weapon Josh “Pork- chop” Colopy. Colopy, was too much for York lineman as he busted through and sacked York’s quarterback. York, gets swallowed up on 4th and forever from gang tackling from Ryder Stiles, Jude Christ and Benito “Rhino” Bautista. LeRoy in great field position takes over at the York 23 yard line. Issac Stella takes the handoff from his buddy Brady McClurg and follows Sheehan up the left and gets downfield blocking form Carter Paige (CP) and David Wojtaszczyk (Wojo) and takes it to the end zone for his second score of the game. McClurg adds a 2 point conversion and LeRoy, starting fast, is up 14-0. The Junior Knights defense would swarm York’s backs again. Jude Christ and Donovan Gaillard were fearless leading the team in tackles with 16 combined. Brennan Webber and Austyn Silvernail both made key 3rd and 4th down stops to get the ball back for LeRoy. Brady Mclurg now without his big back Stella in the lineup leans on shifty Colin Green. Colin makes cuts and accelerates, rips off 14 yards and has York defenders on their heels. Tommy Clifford then takes his best shot. The speedy effort boy gains a thrilling 11 yards. McCurg with a lean on me chip on his shoulder, runs to the right, and gets terrific blocks from Jordon Green, Tuna, and Anthony Warner (Root Beer), flys into the end zone to take a 20-0 lead. York back on offense and seemingly having the longest first half ever can’t get it going through the air. Josh Colopy and Jeremiah Sheehan are enjoying their defensive end play from their teammates that allows for 5 sacks between them both. LeRoy in command has the ball before the half and is moving the chains with Ryder Stiles in at quarterback. Donovan Gaillard’s fresh legs enters the backfield and reunites with Stiles, whom he played with 2 years ago, when he was in the end zone more than the goalpost was. Gaillard seizes his opportunity and hits pay dirt with a 7 yard TOUCHDOWN! The first of his Junior career that puts LeRoy up 26-0 at the half. The second half would see LeRoy grind it out on the ground with a running back by committee approach. The favorite play in the catalog is the “Root Beer Special”, a play designed for rugged, dirty, stinky and mean line-man like Anthony Warner, who are the heart and soul of every great team, the opportunity to run the ball. Root Beer takes the “Rootbeer Special”, and ROOTDOWN bang! Warner rumbles for 6 yards up the gut. Jordon Greene, Simon Green and Peyton Previtera would see their number called and they combined for 46 yards on 3 attempts. York would score on a broken play to close the gap to 26-6 and LeRoy would answer with McClurg scoring his second Touchdown of the day to end the day 32-6 Statistics Passing B.
