The Board and I look forward to working with you to keep LeRoy a great place to live. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention a special thank you to Mitch Cowen, who also ran in this election. Very few people have the cour- age to put themselves out there and run for public office, but Mitch wanted to contribute to the community. It is great to see young people want to take such an active role. I will look for a place to use Mitch’s tal- ents somewhere in our commu- nity. On April 11 at 7:00 pm at the Village Hall we will have a public hearing for the 2018- 2019 budget. This year we were faced with the need for more money to be devoted to street maintenance, a loader (24 years old, time for a new one), and we are beginning the process of a Wolcott Street renovation. With that work the proposed village tax rate will go from $10.59 to $10.70. The goal of the board is keep a sta- ble tax rate without big jumps, stay within the 2% tax rate in- crease guidelines that was set up by the state, and position ourselves for the future. It is always a very hard decision to raise taxes, one the board and I take very seriously. We con- tinuously look for cost savings and scrutinize spending while giving the citizen a bang for their buck. April 2nd will be theWom- en’s Suffrage event, Remember the Ladies, at the Village Hall, sponsored by the LeRoy His- torical Society.
