The most important appointment was that of Tom Stella to fill the vacancy of Councilman created by the election of John Duyssen to Justice. As you know, Tom as been an outstanding member of the Town Board for a decade and, true to form for this board, partisan politics was set aside for the betterment of the com- munity by keeping Tom. He will also continue to serve as my Deputy Supervisor. Note: This position will be up for special election in November to serve the remaining year (2019) of this position’s term. The Board also approved its 2018 Priorities (items that will receive special attention during the year): 1. Proceed with Commer- cial Park development 2. Review Oatka Creek Watershed Report 3. Proceed with Steam Shovel restoration 4. Continue review of Transfer Station processes In fact, each of these items will be the center of attention over our first few month’s meet- ings. An important reminder from our Assessor’s Office: The En- hanced STAR exemption is available to NYS residents in the year they turn 65. For exam- ple, if you turn 65 in December of this year, you are eligible to apply for the Enhanced STAR Exemption by March 1st of this year (about six weeks left to do so), even though you are cur- rently 64. There is an income limit so you should call the As- sessor’s Office (768-6910 ext. 221) to see if you qualify. Thanks, stay warm, and see you Around Town. The Rotary Club of LeRoy is pleased to announce the opening of: LeRoy Rotary Community Kitchen, Inc. The Community Kitchen will provide a free dinner to residents in our community.
