The weather cooperat- ed and it was a perfect day for football. LeRoy won the toss and chose to defer to the 2nd half. Avon started with the ball on the 35 yard line. Joey Reschke and Jeremiah Sheehan start- ed the defense off with a gang tackle at the line of scrimmage for no gain. Noah Kaczanowski followed up with a spectacular tackle behind the line of scrim- mage for an eight yard loss. Next up, Cam Riggi shut the running game down and Avon was forced to punt. LeRoy’s offense marched out on the field and it didn’t take long to punch it in the end zone. On the first play Connor Elmore took to the end zone on a 35 yard run. Kaczanowski converted the PAT. LeRoy was up 8-0. Avon’s next possession start- ed off with an eight yard loss from Jacob Bowman and then an incomplete pass. On third down Avon would have their longest play of the day resulting in a 27 yard run. On third down, Avon took to the air but was no match for Liam Grayson who jumped in front of the receiver for an interception. LeRoy would have good field possession to start their second series. They moved the ball down the field thanks to Kacz and Reschke who combined for 39 yards. On third down the Knights would turn the ball over because of a botched handoff which led to a fumble. Avon didn’t fare much better on their next possession. The Knights defense led by Avante Walker, Cam Wilson, Daw- son Wojtaszczyk, Issac Stella, and Connor “CC” Corcimiglia teamed up and shut down the Brave’s offense. They were forced to turn the ball back over to LeRoy’s lethal offense. On the third play of LeRoy’s next possession, Kaczanowski darted into the end zone on a 10 yard run. Reschke bulldozed his way in for the PAT. LeRoy led 16-0. Avon had trouble moving the ball all day on the Knight’s defense. On third down Grady Gilligan recovered a fumble to give LeRoy another opportuni- ty to punch it in the end zone. Kaczanowski broke to the edge and ran for 30 yards into the end zone. LeRoy led 22-0 at the half. LeRoy started the 2nd half with a fumble on 2nd down, Avon recovered but LeRoy’s defense wouldn’t stop and shut them down the rest of the after- noon. Early in the 4th quarter Gil- ligan would take a 1 yard run untouched into the end zone for his first TD of the season to put LeRoy up 28-0. On the last play of the game Brady McClurg would break two tackles and scamper his way, 40 yards into the end zone for his first touchdown of the season. The final score LeRoy 34-Avon 0. LeRoy’s defense continued to dominate the second half much like the first. By the end of the game, 15 different Junior Knights had recorded at least one tackle. Cam Riggi led all LeRoy defenders with 5 tackles and two sacks. Jacob Bowman and Noah Kaczanowski) each had 4 tackles. CC Corcimiglia, Joey Reschke, Cam Wilson and Dawson Wojtaszczyk– 3 tack- les. Carson Caton, Grady Gil- ligan, Jeremiah Sheehan and Issac Stella – 2 tackles. Connor Elmore, Colin Greene, Nick Noble and Avante Walker each with 1 tackle. Liam Grayson had an interception. Offensively, LeRoy was led by Noah Kaczanowski who gained 53 yards on 3 carries for two touchdowns and a PAT. Connor Elmore had 3 carries for 46 yards and 1TD, Brady Mc- Clurg – 2 carries for 42 yards, 1 TD. Drake Schwab - 5 carries for 32 yards, Joey Reschke – 2 carries for 29 yards and a PAT. Grady Gilligan– 4 carries for 15 yards and 1 TD. Issac Stella 3 carries for 9 yards, Carson Ca- ton-1 carry for 5 yards and Cole Tonzi 1 carry for 3 yards. LeRoy travels to play the Genesee Valley Bills, Sunday October 8th.
