Superintendent's Column
1. Do you know what podcasting is? It is a voice record that you can either listen to with a Windows Media Player or download it to an MP3 player like an iPod. We have students and staff creating podcasts for instruction and information. If you visit the district website, http://leroycsd.org/ and click on Mrs. Nicholl's Class Podcast, you can listen to podcasts created by our students. My special favorite is the Rafe Martin interview. Rafe is an internationally

known author and storyteller who visited with Wolcott Street School students and staff during the month long PARP (Parents as Reading Partners) celebration. Thanks to the teachers and students making this technology possible!

2. For the second year in a row, Wolcott Street School served as the venue for the Odyssey of the Mind regional competition. During

the competition last weekend, Le Roy Central School District students were presented with an OMER Award. It is very rare for this honor to be bestowed, so congratulations to the students and staff who earned this special recognition for their participation in the Odyssey of the Mind competition.

The OMER's Award is named for the Odyssey of the Mind mascot (OMER) in recognition of those who demonstrate outstanding sportsmanship,

exemplary behavior or exceptional talent. The OMER's Award was presented at the NYS Region 15 Tournament to Le Roy Central School's Tech Transfer - Division I team for their extraordinary

team spirit and the unique cuing system they developed to keep track of the sets of items and the time during their presentation of their problem solution.

Sincerely yours, Mary Jane Brooke
