LeRoy Pennysaver & News

LE ROY PENNYSAVER & NEWS - NOVEMBER 19, 2023 Submitted by Destin Danser In December of 2021, Le Roy Ambulance Service began a series of fundraising campaigns to assist with the purchase of a new ambulance. Thanks to an extreme outpouring of community support, we are able to announce that today we have taken delivery of our new ambulance, which was purchased entirely with donations and memorials. We are extremely thankful to everyone who donated to this cause, and happy that we will be able to continue serving the community for many years to come as a result. We would like to give a special thanks to Scofield Transfer & Recycling and Bubba’s Landscaping for their incredible assistance in hosting the “Makin’ It Happen” fundraiser in September, which raised over $60,000! We also received an anonymous donation for over $100,000 toward this cause, and wish to issue special thanks to the anonymous donor! The new ambulance is a 2023 Chevy G-4500 Chassis that has been converted to an ambulance by Medix Specialty Vehicles using their MSV II 170 ambulance box. The ambulance was purchased from Gorman Emergency Vehicles, and had a final price in excess of $200,000. We were able to save approximately $30,000 by purchasing a stock demo unit rather than placing a custom order. This also allowed us to take delivery nearly two years sooner than a custom order would have allowed. This design was chosen due to its durable construction, simple maintenance requirements, practical layout, and crash safety. The ambulance is equipped with a Stryker Powerload System, which lifts the stretcher into the ambulance, making transport of bariatric patients easier and preventing injury to our EMS Providers. It is also equipped with a new form of seat belt harness in the back of the patient compartment that allows our EMS providers to more easily remain belted while providing patient care. We will be working to outfit the vehicle with our patient care equipment and train our employees on its functions over the next two weeks, and we hope to have the new ambulance in service by the end of this month. Once again, we would like to express our sincere thanks to everyone who donated to our fund drives and helped to make this purchase possible. Your generous contributions are appreciated and will directly make an impact on the care we provide for many years moving forward. Press Release From the Le Roy Ambulance Board of Directors
