Around Town by Jim Farnholz Supervisor, Town of LeRoy (585)768-6910 ext.231 I wanted to take this opportunity to update everyone on the Water District 12 project, (townwide water). We have received a grant from Rural Development for 5.766 million dollars. In addition, Rural Development will loan 9.792 million to the project at 2.8%. All of which puts the project on a good track. We are waiting for another 5-million-dollar grant from New York State that we should hear about by December. At that time, we will figure the final numbers an hopefully go out to bid by late spring 2024. I also wanted to give a shout out to our Summer Recreation program for the outstanding job they have done this summer. August 14th there will be field days at Wildwood Park open to all kids. The last day the pool will be open is August 19th. Just some quick comments about the project on South St. It is a county project, and the Town has nothing to do with it. As to speed and increased traffic issues it must be addressed by the Department of Transportation and the Genesee County Sheriff’s office. As to the completion of the project, all I can say as a resident of South St. is the sooner, the better. Enjoy the last few weeks of Summer and I hope to see you around town.
