LE ROY PENNYSAVER & NEWS - APRIL 02, 2023 Amy Grayson Pesesky passed away March 16, 2023. She was born March 20,1955 to the late D. John 'Jack' Grayson and to the late Marguerite (Kagi) Grayson of LeRoy, New York. Amy is survived by and will be missed by her husband of 45 years, Scott Pesesky, her children, Billy (Lauren Wray) Pesesky and Katy (Frank) Shields, and her grandchildren,Marcus,Mady, Anna, Leah and Fred. She is also survived by her siblings David (Danette) Grayson, Anne (Tom) Frew, Peggy Grayson, Lisa (Mark) Soderberg, Katherine Hare, Barbara (Chuck) Lyon, William (Kathy) Grayson, Susan (Thomas) Goodno, and Bridget Grayson, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Amy received her undergraduate degree in 1977 from St. Bonaventure University. After earning her Juris Doctor degree from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law, College of William and Mary, in 1990, Amy was an attorney and eventual shareholder at Hofheimer Nusbaum, P.C. and its successor, Williams Mullen, before opening her own practice, Amy G. Pesesky, P.L.C., in 2008, where she continued to practice until her retirement in 2019. Amy was a past member of the American Bar Association, the Virginia Bar Association, and several other professional associations, and served as Vice Chairperson andChairpersonof theBoardofGovernors Trusts and Estates Section of the Virginia State Bar. She authored several articles, many related to Special Needs Trusts, lectured, and co-authored a chapter in the Estates Planning Manual published by Virginia Continuing Legal Education. Amy had a heart for children and families and served on the board of ForKids, Inc. She also served as a member of both the Professional Advisors Committee and Community Leadership Partners giving group at the Hampton Roads Community Foundation. In 2017, Amy received the Baron F. Black Community Builder Award, which is presented by the Hampton Roads Community Foundation to a professional advisor who demonstrates a dedication to philanthropy that improves lives in Hampton Roads. Her mentor and friend, Robert C. Nusbaum, was a prior recipient of this award. A private family only service will be held.
