LeRoy Pennysaver & News

LE ROY PENNYSAVER & NEWS - SEPTEMBER 4, 2022 by Jim Farnholz Supervisor, Town of LeRoy (585)768-6910 ext.231 Labor Day weekend signals the unofficial end of summer. It has been a busy summer for the Town of LeRoy. I would like to thank our recreation directors, Luke Weaver and Becky Elmore, as well as their staff for another successful summer for rec. and the pool. The only disappointment was that we were unable to complete the splash pad in time for this summer. Between supply chain delays and Monroe County Water authorities’ engineers failing to communicate with various entities it made opening this summer impossible. We do look forward to opening on time next summer. As many of you know the Town has been working on plans to extend municipal water to all of the homes in LeRoy that do not presently have it (342). All of the engineering plans are done and the funding request has been submitted to Rural Development in Washington. We will have a response from them some time in September. At that time, we will know the cost to taxpayers and can forward that information to the State Comptroller for approval. We will then have a public hearing to go over cost and recommendations on the project. There will not need to be a public referendum on this plan since it was brought forward by the Town Board. Our original survey indicated over a 90% desire for municipal water. The Town has also been involved in extensive litigation and negotiation with the RT. 5 business park, (former Wicks). While I can’t go into detail on the matter rest assured that we are working toward a resolution to the situation on the property. With all of that being said, go out and enjoy the last unofficial weekend of summer. I hope to see you at the Farmer’s market or around town at other events. Around Town Woodward Memorial Library would like to say THANK YOU to the following businesses and organizations who supported our summer reading programs and helped make them a success: Adam Miller Toy & Bicycle Art of Mandy Batavia Downs Gaming & Hotel Bourbon & Burger Buffalo Bills Buffalo Bisons The Coffee Press Eli Fish Genesee Country Museum Geva Theatre Island's Hawaiian Grill Kellie's Cuts Lakestreet Florist LeRoy Country Club Pro Shop Mama Chavez Taqueria McDonald's (LeRoy) Oliver's Candies Smokin' Eagle BBQ & Brew Sweet Betty's Tops Friendly Market Village Physical Therapy & Fitness of LeRoy Thank You family and friends for the cards, flowers, food and all of your special words of support and prayer.
