The Rockets used a balanced attack on offense with both Hamilton brothers (Anthony and Jordan), Jameson Wyant, Keegan Bramer and Everitt Torrey all chipping in on offense in the 1st half. For the Blazers, it was Raelyn Cosimeno, Trenton Alford, Alley Loftus, Tarick Vangalio and Aaron Bailey helping out on offense. The game was tighter than expected at the end of the half, with the Raptors going into the break up 16-10. You can only hold off Hamilton for so long as he got open often in the 2nd half and capitalized on those opportunities to put up 10 points to help his Raptors pull away from the Blazers. Tarick Vangalio got hot from the outside as he added 6 points for the Blazers in the 2nd half, but in the end it was too little too late. The Raptors came away with the 38-26 win to finish the season 5-1 and secured the #1 seed going into next weekend's playoffs. The Blazers fall to 1-5 and as the #4 seed will meet the Raptors again in the playoffs. The Raptors were led by Anthony Hamilton with 16 points. Other offensive contributors were Keegan Bramer (10 points), Jameson Wyant (8 points), Everitt Torrey (2 points) and Jordan Hamilton (2 points) The Blazers were led by Tarick Vangalio with 10 points. Other offensive contributors were Raelyn Cosimeno (6 points), Trenton Alford (6 points), Alley Loftus (2 points) and Aaron Bailey (2 points). Game #2: Rockets vs Warriors The last game of the night was a matchup of the Warriors and the Rockets and would wrap up the 2022 KTA Basketball regular season. The Warriors have a dominant duo of 2nd graders in Brayden Johnson and Dalton Bzduch. The Rockets have a more balanced attack but rely heavily on the outside shooting of Payson Keller. While Johnson proved once again he is tough to defend, teammates Jayce Miller and Joseph Oliver would be key to today's game as well. For the Rockets, Austin Branton, Layla Robinson and Ameaus Largeroy would have to step up if they wanted to take down the Warriors. The Warriors took an early lead and ended the 1st period up 8-5. Some great defense by Ella Murrow helped the Warriors pitch a shutout in the 2nd period and gave them a 15-5 lead going into the break. In the 2nd half the Rockets would need some big time contributions from Alex Tomidy and Xander Parker if they wanted to get back in the game. But the defense of Steavan “Chalupa Batman” Montesano wasn’t going to let that happen. The Warriors pulled away in the 2nd half and came away with a 29-9 victory and end the year 4-1-1 to close out the season as the #2 seed heading into the playoffs. The Rockets finished the year 1-4-1 and will be the #3 seed in the playoffs as these two teams meet again next week. No individual scores were reported.
