LE ROY PENNYSAVER & NEWS - JULY 4, 2021 Red sox 11 Twins 3 The Red Sox and Twins squared off in game 1 of the Scanlan cup semifinals. The Red Sox struck first scoring 4 runs in the first inning with key hits from Isaac Stella and Carter Page. The Twins picked up a run in the second after the speedy Donavan Gaillard reached on a dropped third strike, then proceeded to steal the next 3 bases. The Sox added 4 more in their half of the second off hits from Evan Rose, Stella, Paul Winters, and Ethan Rose. In the top of the third the Twins drew a couple of walks, then Gaillard would drive in 2 runs off his hit. The Sox picked up 2 more in their half from hits by Evan Rose, Stella, Carter Page, and Paul Winters. The Sox would not allow any more runs the duration of the game, and add 1 more run for themselves in the 4th inning. Hitting for the Red Sox were Evan Rose and Stella each with 3 hits, Carter Page with 2 hits, and Paul and Daniel Winters each with a hit. Hitting for the Twins was Austyn Silvernail with 2 hits, and Gaillard with a hit. Pitching for the Red Sox Evan Rose and Isaac Stella allowing only 3 hits and combing for 14 strikeouts. Pitching for the twins was Jude Christ, and Peyton Privatera. Red Sox 6 Orioles 5 The Red Sox and Orioles matched up for their first game of the best of 3 series with the winner being the Scanlan cup champs. The home Sox would hold the O's scoreless for 4 straight innings, while picking up 4 runs for themselves in the first 4 innings. These runs would come from key hits from Isaac Stella, Evan Rose, Paul Winters, and Dominic Dieter. In the top of the 5th the O's would attack scoring 5 runs and taking the lead 5-4. These runs were scored off big hits by Brady McClurg, Austyn Silvernail, Simon Greene, Tj Chrissy, Sammy Bogue, and Nick Porcelli. In the bottom of the 5th Carter Page would draw a walk and Andreas Condidorio would hit an RBI single scoring Page and tieing the game at 5. With 2 outs Blake Fetzer hit an RBI single, scoring Condidorio, and giving the Sox a 6-5 lead. The Sox would then shut the O's down in the top of the 6th to take a 1-0 series lead. Leading the Sox was Isaac Stella with 2 hits, adding a hit a piece were Evan Rose, Paul Winters, Carter Page, Daniel Winters, Andreas Condidorio, Dominic Dieter, and Blake Fetzer. Leading the O's was Tj Chrissy with 2 hits, adding a hit a piece were McClurg, Silvernail, Simon Greene, Sammy Bogue, and Nick Porcelli. Pitching for the Sox was Evan Rose allowing only 2 hits and striking out 8. Paul Winters and Ethan Rose would close out the game. Pitching for the O's were Brady McClurg and Austyn Silvernail. Red Sox 18 Orioles 14 Game 2 of the Scanlon cup finals was a high scoring affair that featured a lot of hitting and a lot of walks. The visiting sox picked up 1 run in the 1st. The Orioles would start their offensive game big in the bottom of the 1st scoring 4 runs with hits by Brady McClurg and Simon Greene. Tj Chrissy then stepped up to the plate and hit a monster home run, his second of the year. In the top of the 2nd the Red Sox fought back scoring 5 runs after 8 consecutive walks. In the bottom of the 2nd the O's added 1 run with a key double coming from Jayden Duyssen. The Sox failed to score in the 3rd. The O's would tack on 3 runs in the bottom of the 3rd coming from some savvy baserunning and a Simon Greene double. In the top of the 4th the Sox added 4 runs with hits coming from Evan Rose, Isaac Stella, Paul Winters, and Logan Kanaley. In the bottom of the 4th the O's scored 3 more runs with hits from Brady McClurg, Austyn Silvernail, and Simon Greene. In the top of the 5th the Sox failed to score. The O's again scored 3 more runs in the bottom of the 5th. The Sox added 1 more run in the 6th, then played some solid defense to hold the O's from scoring and go on to win the precious Scanlan Cup! Hitting for the Red Sox was Evan Rose with 4 hits, Ethan Rose with 3 hits, Logan Kanaley with 2 hits, Isaac Stella, Paul Winters, and Andreas Condidorio each added a hit. Hitting for the O's were Brady McClurg and Simon Greene each with 3 hits, Silvernail with 2 hits, and Tj Chrissy, and Jayden Duyssen each added a hit.
