Martha M. “Marty” Saxman, 73, of Byron, passed away on June 27, 2021 at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia. She will be missed by her friends and family. by Greg “Porp” Rogers It has been an extremely busy first half of the year, to recap: We had our Chief of Police Chris Hayward and Investigator John Condidorio both retire in January. We began our sewer plant project finally get to the construction phase. Wolcott Street is now being removed and new storm water system and street replacement, will be coming soon. We applied and received a 230K Main St. Revitalization Grant, this will bring some upgrades to lower Main Street. We recently finished negotiations with the DPW and Police Unions, both were put on hold last year due to the Covid pandemic. By the way we worked our way out of the Covid masks too. Now Sharon Jeary Clerk-Treasurer, Village employee for 44 years has retired. Not Bad! Going forward, we anticipate to use some of our Covid relief stimulus money, to replace the wading pool for next season. Unfortunately, the time had come to finally stop band aiding and put in a new one, it may be a spray park but we will evaluate our plan, but that’s the direction. Once again, we have a recreation program, maybe not as elaborate as in the past, but Director Luke Weaver has done a great job for the resources he had to work with. Please be patient with the changes, everyone is doing their very best to pull this together. I love this one. “Challenges are what make life interesting and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful” Joshua J. Marine Mayor's Corner POLOS · VESTS HATS · JACKETS DRESS SHIRTS AND MORE!
