LeRoy Pennysaver & News

LE ROY PENNYSAVER & NEWS - MAY 16, 2021 by Greg “Porp” Rogers It is with a heavy heart, that I bring news the village team is losing its’ cornerstone. Sharon Jeary will be retiring by the end of the year. This leaves us little time to find her replacement and get them trained. We will be looking for candidates to fill the Clerk-Treasurer’s position. The applicant must live with in the village, by Village charter. If anyone is interested, please stop at the village hall to put in an application or drop off a resume. We will also be posting this job in the Penny saver. Here is an update on the proposed senior PUD at the end of East Ave. The board will be hearing the environmental SEQR on Wednesday May 19th. This is not the meeting to either voice your opinions either for or against, it is an informational meeting. It is my intention to put together a packet that will layout the total project, from how and where the money is coming for the project, traffic study, rain water remediation plan, assessed value and tax implication. As well the reasoning and logic behind such an undertaking and make it available on the Town website. We will have our June 16th meeting and public hearing on a proposed zoning change at that meeting. It will be held in the Memorial Auditorium to allow more capacity. We encourage only those who have been vaccinated and please wear a mask and social distance to the best of your ability. We would like to hear from everyone and youwill be given the opportunity. It has been a very busy time, the Wolcott St. project has been funded at 2.8 million dollars at 1.57%, and we had our preconstruction meeting on this past Thursday. Friday was our preconstruction meeting for our Waste water treatment plant project. In my next article I will give more details as this article has to be in by Wednesday at noon. The Summer recreation program is looking like a go at this time, how it looks remains to be seen, but the Town is working to make it a reality, I’m sure the Town Supervisor will give more details as they become available, in his upcoming articles. “ Strive not to be a success, but rather to be a value” Albert Einstein Mayor's Corner LEROY ROTARY COMMUNITY KITCHEN - We serve dinner every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month starting at 4:30 until 5:45.
