LE ROY PENNYSAVER & NEWS - MAY 9, 2021 Submitted by Jon Privitera Yankees 7 Tigers 2 The Yankees managed a busy weekend in LeRoy Little League picking up two victories and emerging with a 4-0 record to start the season. In their first two wins of the season the Yanks relied on their big bats winning high scoring slugfests, this past weekend they used great defense and dominant pitching to win two more. On Saturday Anthony Warner and Drew Beachel combined for 15 strikeouts in a 7-2 win over the Tigers. Anthony started the game and recorded 8 strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings, and Drew picked up 7 more in 2 plus innings of relief work. Anthony helped his own cause by driving in 4 runs with another multi- hit game. Colin Greene collected 3 hits, and was solid behind the plate defensively. Drew Beachel, Matthew McCulley, Nate Pangrazio, Michael Warner, and Liam Ortiz all added hits for the Yankees, and Blake Biracree scored 2 runs. For the Tigers Deacon Queal, Tommy Clifford, and Kylie Wilson all hit safely. TJ Sheehan and Clifford combined for the Tigers pitching effort with Sheehan picking up 5 strikeouts. Yankees 3 Twins 1 Sunday the Yankees were right back in action, this time against the Twins. Colin Greene and Michael Warner each pitched 3 strong innings and combined to hold Twins to 4 hits in the 3-1 win for the Yankees. Greene picked up 6 strikeouts and Michael recorded 3. The offense was led once again by Greene and the Warner’s as they picked up multi-hit games and Drew Beachel and Matthew McCulley each contributed with hits. Nate Pangrazio made a stellar defensive play, snaring a hard line drive at second base potentially saving 2 runs. The Twins were led by a solid all-around performance by Jude Christ. Offensively he doubled, scored the only run, and reached base safely in all 4 plate appearances. Jude also handled the pitching duties for the Twins with an impressive complete game effort that included 8 strikeouts. Peyton Privatera picked up 2 hits and Kade Olivani another to lead the Twins offense. Eddie Lathan made 2 great defensive plays from his third base position for the Twins. Red Sox 14 Tigers 11 Mondays Little League game was a show down of the Tigers and the Red Sox. The Tigers got off to a hot start with some great pitching by Jeremiah Sheehan who recorded 9 strikeouts in the game. Combine that with some timely hitting provided the Tigers with an early 9-0 lead after the top of the 4th inning. But in the bottom of the 4th the Red Sox woke up and put up 9 runs of their own to tie the game up. The Tigers jumped out to the lead again in the top of the 5th, but in the bottom of the inning the Red Sox put up 5 runs to take the lead back. None of those runs were bigger than Evan Rose's huge lead off homerun that bounced off the scoreboard in center field. Rose's homerun was the very first homerun hit in the 2021 Little League season so far. The final score was Red Sox 14 Tigers 11 LeRoy Little League 1 Church St. • LeRoy, NY 14482 585.768.2201 www. l pg r aph i c s. ne t EMBROIDERY
