It was March 29, 1973, when combat and combat support units withdrew from South Vietnam. The Vietnam War was a divisive and difficult time for the United States and many veterans did not get the proper recognition for their services and sacrifices that they needed to receive, which is why commemorating this holiday is so important. Involving five U.S. presidents, crossing nearly two decades and 2.7 million Americans, it left a mark on the American psyche. The Botts-Fiorito Post #576, American Legion will conduct a ceremony observing this event beginning at 5:00 PM at the Memorial Flagpole at theAmerican Legion Post Home, 53West Main Street.
