This was a direction out of Albany after the summer long turbulences and call for police reform. While we feel in our community that we have very little issues on this front, we decided to re-examine how we do business and what can we do better, to serve our community. We went deeper than just race, but also into mentally challenged and their needs to be treated in a different manner, as well as the training an officer may need to deal with these people. These are the people who made up the committee: Lori Steinbrenner – Business Owner/Village Resident, Jack Hempfling - Pastor/Village Resident, Jake Whiting – Legal Representative/Village Resident, Christine Gephart – Mental Health Professional/ Community Kitchen, Mary Margaret Scanlan – Mental Health Professional, James Farnholz – Town Supervisor, Sean Ancker – Police Department Representative, Greg Kellogg - Police Department Representative, Merritt Holly – School Superintendent, Kevin Finnell – First Assistant District Attorney, Jerry Ader – Public Defender, Weldon Ervin – Village Resident, Laura Kettle – Village Resident, Monica Scarlotta – Village Resident, Steve Reese – Village Resident, Tiffany Goodenough – Village Resident, Eileen Carmel – Recording Secretary/Village Resident, and Mayor Greg Rogers. Committee Chair, Police Chief Christopher Hayward. On behalf of the entire community, I would like to thank all who participated and to both Chief’s Hayward and Kellogg for seeing this through. I believe we are one of the first communities to complete this. The committee’s findings and report can be found on the village’s web site. “Good friends are like stars, you don’t always see them, but you know they are there” Mayor's Corner Teleflora's BE HAPPY® Mug $40.00 (plus delivery & Tax) MAKE SOMEONE SMILE!
