LeRotary Notes The Rotary Club of LeRoy gathered virtually for its weekly meeting on November 25, 2020, with 17 members present. President Mary Margaret Ripley brought the meeting to order and there were no guests. Scott McCumiskey led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. President Mary Margaret asked for announcements. Jason Karcher began with the upcoming annual treasured event of the “CookieAuction.” The board believes we will remain virtually for meetings but want to be creative and make the event still occur. Jason asked for you to email (jkarcher@mac.com) or text him (585.450.9660) with what you plan to auction off with a photo, by December 11th. It was discussed we could still invite guests to the auction, as “Friends of Rotary.” The auction will take place virtually on December 16th. There will be more details coming in the next couple of weeks. S h a n n o n a K a r c h e r announced that community members have signed up for the Holiday Decorating Contest. The event has been in the LeRoy Pennysaver, on Facebook, and in the Batavian. Information was also sent to the Batavia Daily News. Many community places have donated the prizes and Rotary is very appreciative. J e s s a S t r o l l o a a l s o a n n o u n c e d a t h e a g r a n t committee met on November 30th at 7:00 pm and is working on the grant application for the upcoming year. The grant committee decided to continue focusing efforts at Wildwood Park. There is less money available this “grant season” but the committee is still moving forward. Scott McCumiskey gave a brief announcement on the update about the 32nd Annual Appliance Raffle which will be held virtually through Facebook live on December 6, 2020. He stressed that we need to continue to sell tickets. Tickets can be turned in to Scott at work or at the Karcher’s house. He is working on gathering volunteers for the day of. Missed meetings were recognized by President Mary Margaret. Missed meetings were sanctioned to Erik Fix, TimMoag, and Jessica Strollo. President Mary Margaret transitioned to the fining session. Shannon Karcher was fined for her children beginning karate at Bauer’s Karate Academy. Shannon offered to pay $20.00 for the fine. Scott McCumiskey was fined $5.00 for going to The Texas Hot in Wellsville, NY, and waiting in line for 120 minutes for four Texas Hots. Scott explained The Texas Hot was celebrating their 99th year of business with $0.99 Texas Hots. Randy Vink graciously offered to pay Scott’s fine. Jess Strollo was fined for activities done by all three of her children. Jess’s oldest has earned his driver’s permit, her middle child competed in travel baseball while her youngest scored her first soccer goal this past season. R o t a r i a n s a b r i e f l y participated in fellowship to do check-ins on how some of our members and spouses are doing. There was no program scheduled for today’s meeting. President Mary Margaret adjourned themeetingat 12:30, as she needed to go bake 25 more pies for Thanksgiving. She wished everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving.
