LeRoy Pennysaver & News

LE ROY PENNYSAVER & NEWS - OCTOBER 11, 2020 by Greg “Porp” Rogers A couple of weeks ago the Village was finally able to have our election that had been postponed since March. RayYacuzzo, JimBonacquisti and myself were re-elected to 4-year terms. We are all humbled and honored by the trust you as a community has put in us. This is a trust not taken lightly. Thank You. Thewastewater treatment plan is finally ready to go out to bid to start our renovation project. This week we met with Genesee County Soil and Water about planting of wild flowers and vegetation on the west creek bank on Mill St. In an effort to bring back some of its natural beauty while keeping a scenic view from the Mill St. Park. The Town and Village are both looking into their perspective code on solar farms, and what works for each, I will keep you posted on the final result. Unfortunately, the Village Board accepted the resignation of Ken Biggins from his post at the DPW, his talents will be greatly missed, and we wish him the best. Leaf season is upon us again, please try to keep your leaves on the terrace and not in the streets. When leaves go to the streets it causes many problems in our storm sewer system. We must keep them free of debris in order for them to do their job and move storm water where it is intended to go. New York State mandates the Village, to have a process onnondiscriminatoryprotocol for the Police Department. A committee has been formed and is headed up by Police Chief Chris Hayward. It is the Board’s and the Police Department’s opinion that we already behave in a manner that is consistent of respect for all. However, we will be reviewing and making any changes that the committee feels will better serve all in our community. “ Life is like a coin, it’s up to you how you spend it” Mayor's Corner GRACE'S CLOSET : A clothing giveaway at LeRoy United Methodist Church, 10 Trigon Park, LeRoy NY clothing for all ages infants through adults.
