Joey Vernacini started the pitching duties for the Red Sox. The Yankees scored 1 in the first after DrewBeachel reached based on a dropped 3rd strike and Connor Elmore doubled scoring Beachel. The Red Sox scored 2 in their half of the 1st. Evan Rose walked then Joey Vernacini doubled scoring Rose. Joey Reschke then hit in Vernacini. The Yankees failed to score in the 2nd while the Sox picked up 2 more in the 2nd after Jameson Zitz and Ethan Rose walked Isaac Stella then singled scoring Zitz and Rose. Neither team scored in the 3rd. In the 4th the Red Sox scored 1 run from the base running master Cole Tonzi. The Yankees picked up 2 runs in the 5th while the Sox added 3 more in the 5th final 9-3 Sox. Hitting for the Sox were Joey Vernacini going 2/3 with 3 rbi, Joey Reschke with a hit and rbi, Evan Mcallister with 2 hits, and Evan Rose Cole Tonzi and Isaac Stella each with a hit. Hitting for the Yankees were Connor Elmore with 2 hits and 1 rbi, Drew Beachel with 2 hits, Colin Greene Aiden Weaver and Nate Pangrazio each with a hit. Pitching for the Red Sox were Joey Vernacini going 4 innings with 7 strikeouts and Cole Tonzi with the save. For the Yankees Connor Elmore, Colin Greene, and Anthony Warner combined for 7 strikeouts. Indians 12, Yankees 8 The Indians and Yankees met for the second time this season with Colin Greene taking the mound for the Yankees and Jace Jedrewski on the hill for the Indians. The visiting Indians would score first in this one after Jagger Smith singled and later scored on a passed ball giving the Indians a 1-0 lead after the first inning. In the second inning, the Yankees would answer when Connor Elmore singled , Aiden Weaver doubled and Elmore scored on a passed ball. After a walk to Donovan Gaillard, Weaver would later score on a RBI single by Nate Pangrazio and Gaillard would score on a throwing error to give the Yankees a 3-1 lead. In the bottom of the 2nd, the Indians would fight back with a two out rally started after Eddie Lathan and Ryan O’Geen both singled. Tommy Clifford then knocked in Lathan with an RBI single and Jagger Smith was hit by a pitch loading the bases. Jace Jedrewski then had an infield single scoring O’Geen leaving the bases still loaded. Hayven Cordes then drew a walk scoring Clifford and Jeremiah Sheehan was hit by a pitch scoring Smith. Then Jack Clifford would blast a 2 run single scoring Jedrewski and Cordes to make the score 7-3 after 2. The score would stay unchanged until the 4th thanks to some solid pitching from Hayven Cordes from the Indians and Cam Riggi from the Yankees. In the top of the 4th, Riggi would score after drawing a walk and scoring on a throwing error to make the score 7-4. In the bottom of the 4th, the Indians would add to their lead after Jeremiah Sheehan was hit by a pitch and Jack Clifford walked. Sheehan would score on a passed ball and Clifford would score on a misplayed ball hit by Peyton Privitera. Privitera would later score on an RBI ground out by Liam Ortiz making the score 10-4 after 4. The Yankees would again make things interesting in the 5th after singles by Anthony Warner, Connor Elmore and Aiden Weaver loaded the bases and Cam Riggi drew a walk scoring Warner. The Indians would then make 3 more fielding errors in the inning allowing Elmore, Weaver and Riggi to score but Jagger Smith would come on with the bases loaded and work the Indians out of the jam holding the score 10-8. In the bottom of the 5th, the Indians would add 2 insurance runs after Jagger Smith and Hayven Cordes both singled and Smith scored on a RBI groundout by Jeremiah Sheehan. Cordes then scored on a passed ball to make the score 12-8 which would end the scoring in the game. For the Indians (6-3), Hayven Cordes got the win on the mound (4 K’s) while Jace Jedrewski and Jagger Smith both added 2K’s in limited work. Offensively, Jagger Smith had 2 hits and scored 3 runs while Tommy Clifford and Edwin Lathan also both had 2 hits. Jace Jedrewski, Hayven Cordes, Jack Clifford (2 RBI’s), Peyton Privitera and Ryan O’Geen also added hits. For the Yankees (1-7), Colin Greene (3 K’s), Cam Riggi (4K’s) and Aiden Weaver (1K) handled the pitching duties. Aiden Weaver led the way at the plate with 3 hits, including a 2B & 3B. Connor Elmore added 2 hits while Colin Greene, Anthony Warner and Nate Pangrazio (2 RBI’s) also added hits. Orioles 7, Twins 4 (8 innings) Friday night baseball featured a matchup between the O’s and the Twins. Grady Gilligan started on the mound for the O’s. The first two batters he faced he struck out, but Avante Walker singled off him. The O’s defense played strong and ended the top of the 1st . Noah Kaczanowski would get the start for the Twins. After a couple fly outs, Cam Wilson crushed a double to deep right field. Grady Gilligan walked. Then Simon Greene singled to score both Wilson and Gilligan. 2 to 0 O’s after one inning. At the top of the second inning Gilligan’s strong arm would strike out the side. Noah took the mound for the bottom of the second and had the same results. His fastball took down the O’s 1, 2, 3. Top of the third started with Brady McClurg ripping a single down the third base line. But with great defense, they held McClurg on base and no one would score.
