LeRoy Pennysaver & News

LE ROY PENNYSAVER & NEWS - AUGUST 2, 2020 by Greg “Porp” Rogers If you go past the village barns on North Street you will notice a new structure. The Board is focusing on street maintenance, in an effort to provide better streets at a lower cost. That building will house street millings and a new hot box that together will replace filling pot holes with cold patch. Cold patch quite honestly doesn’t last very long and has to be constantly replaced. This new device will allow us to fill the holes with a hot mixture that has been proven to do a better job and last longer. Hopefully, the difference is noticeable next winter. It is with much regret that I inform you that we have had the resignation of two members of our joint Planning Board, current Chairman Luke Weaver and former chairman of 36 years Bob Dawley, we would like to thank both for all their service to the community. The question has been asked if the code allows chickens within the village limits? Chickens are considered farm animals and thus not allowed within the village limits. On a lighter note the Little League season has begun, with some great pitching and fielding being displayed so far. This also brings back the traditional milk shake from the Mayor on any homer hit over the fence in the month of July, so far, 10-year- old Anthony Warner and Peter Clark have hit them. “When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.” John Lennon Mayor's Corner SUMMER LUNCH FOR CHILDREN & TEENS IN LEROY : Lunches will be served on Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays from 12:00 to 12:45 pm at the side entrance of St. Mark’s Church on Church St. Parking is in St. Mark’s lot across the street (on the corner of East Main and Church Sts.).
