LE ROY PENNYSAVER & NEWS - JUNE 21, 2020 Summer Lunch for Children & Teens in LeRoy With the ending of lunches distributed at LeRoy Central School on June 25, St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and community friends decided to offer a free summer lunch for children and teens. This will run from July 1 to August 21 on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. A second lunch would be handed out to participants on Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays. While St. Mark’s has held summer lunch at Mill St. Park for the past eleven years, this year’s lunch will be presented as grab-and- go bags at St. Mark’s side door on Church St. from 12:00-12:45 pm. Parking is in St. Mark’s lot across the street (on the corner of East Main and Church Sts.). There will be hot lunches for Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and cold lunches or heat- at-home lunches for Tuesday and Thursday offerings. We are looking for community volunteers! We currently have volunteers from St. Mark’s, LeRoy Methodist Church, and Our Lady of Mercy Parish, and we would welcome new members from any of our churches or organizations as well as interested individuals. We will be following all the protocols for safe serve as well as for coronavirus precautions. Volunteers must wear masks and follow handwashing and social distancing guidelines; gloves will be provided for food prep. There are a variety of volunteer positions available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. These include food preparation from 10:30- 12:30; runners to deliver food to the distribution area (11:30-12:45), and distribution crew (11:45-12:45). In addition, volunteers for meal packing for the Tuesday/Thursday bags will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:30-11:30. The summer lunch is funded by a grant from the Blood Foundation as well as from St. Mark’s members. Due to the expanded need expected this summer, we are welcoming donations from the community.
