T . org . – To the Residents of the LeRoy Central School District: I hope you all continue to persevere during these challenging and unprecedented times. No one could have imagined, or planned for, the disruption that the COVID-19 pandemic has brought upon our daily lives. In times of struggle, people tend to show their true colors. The true colors of the leadership team, faculty and staff of the LeRoy school district continue to shine bright during this crisis, showing pure intentions, selflessness, and hope for the future. Our Superintendent, Merritt Holly, continues to show great leadership qualities. Merritt has provided stability in these uncertain times by coordinating efforts across all spectrums of the learning experience. Whenever asked, no matter how small or large the task, Merritt is willing to lend a helping hand. The administrative team has rallied the teachers to coordinate and deploy an innovative plan for online learning to keep students engaged, despite their physical absence from school. The faculty has embraced the challenges of distance learning by adopting new strategies, developing unique projects, maintaining personal interaction with their students, staying motivated, and imparting that motivation upon their students. The support staff continues to work diligently to keep school buildings open as much as allowed so that phones are answered, bills are paid, and daily operations continue. The cafeteria staff maintains its dedication to feed the students of the district to keep them happy and healthy. Each day, the cafeteria staff serves over 500 nutritious and delicious breakfasts and lunches. The custodial, maintenance, transportation, and cleaning staff all continue working very hard to maintain the grounds, clean and disinfect all classrooms and school areas, and assist with daily meal distribution. To our most important constituents, our students, I am very proud of the way you have handled this disruption to your daily lives. You have adapted and worked very hard to complete assignments. Along with your parents, you did your very best with a different and sometimes difficult learning experience. Everyone mentioned above is playing a role in preparing for a smooth transition to school opening in the fall. We do not know what that opening will look like - be it on-site, online, or a combination of both. But, in times of uncertainty, it is important to focus your concerns on aspects of life deserving of that concern. Do not worry about our school district. We are all very fortunate to live in a community where all school personnel place a high value on a high quality education and care so deeply about our students - for that, I extend my deepest gratitude. I am also grateful for all of you who support me in my endeavor to continue working with these individuals and an outstanding Board of Education to take a great school district to even greater heights. Sincerely, Jacalyn Whiting, President LeRoy Central School Board of Education
