LeRoy Pennysaver & News

LE ROY PENNYSAVER & NEWS - MARCH 1, 2020 by James Farnholz Supervisor, Town of LeRoy (585) 768-6910 ext. 231 First, I would like to thank everyone that has made my first two months as supervisor as smooth a transition as possible. I would like to also welcome John Johnson to the Town Board. His expertise in a variety of areas especially fire, ambulance, and the transfer station will be invaluable. After taking office as supervisor in January, the Board had to fill the seat I vacated until a special election is held in November. By unanimous vote the board appointed Steve Barbeau to the board seat. I would personally like to thank Steve for his service as supervisor and for serving on the board until the special election. January and February have been busy months for the Town Board. After a great deal of work by the planning board and the code enforcement officers, the new code for residential solar use has been reviewed and passed. The Town Board also passed an 18 month moratorium on commercial solar construction in order to give the planning board, code officers, and Town Board the time to study and write a code that will benefit everyone. The Board is also in the process of reviewing a new sign code that has been proposed. With the retirement of our recreation director Jackie Whiting, the Town advertised and received several applications for the position. We are happy to announce that Luke Weaver will be filling that position. With the help of Jackie, we are confident in a smooth transition and a continuation of the outstanding recreation program we have. There have been some questions about recycling and the transfer station I would like to clear up. The Town of LeRoy contracts with LT Disposal to provide containers as well as removing them. LeRoy pays by the ton for recycled material to be removed as well as a tipping fee for transferring the containers. Once the recycling material leaves our transfer station it is out of our control. To the best of our knowledge it is taken to their recycling center, however, once there it is up to LT Disposal as to whether it is recycled or not. I look forward to serving the residents of LeRoy. Please feel free to contact me anytime with questions or problems you may have. I hope to see you around town. Around Town Thank you for sharing your memories, support and love. Your kindness is deeply appreciated and will always be remembered. The Family of Tom J. Hogle 1 Church St., LeRoy, NY 14482 585.768.2201 www.lpgraphics.net
