LE ROY PENNYSAVER & NEWS - FEBRUARY 17, 2019 It was an icy day at The Greens of LeRoy for our meeting today. We welcomed Steve Barbeau from our Town Board, and LeRoy Seniors Brandon Jeanotte, Ethan Pocock, and Jacob Montoya. Announcements include: Rotary’s service project at the Hope Center on the 9th, followed by a social at Capish, Rotary Bowling Night at the Legion on March 15th, Rotary Alumni Basketball Game is March 22nd, the Graze to Raise is scheduled for May 17th, and the LeRoy Historical Society Dinner is March 23rd. Jason Karsher reported that he is working on upgrading our website, and he welcomes any feedback from any Rotarians for suggestions. Mike Tucci chaired or Big Game Raffle, and reported on its incredible success. He credited high Martha Bailey and Bob Bennett for ticket sales. The Batavia Rotary 100th Year Anniversary Party is May 10th at Batavia Downs. President Jim requested any questions from the club regarding the changes from the District regarding incorporating. The next Rotary Community Kitchen is February 12th, from 5pm-6:15pm at The Masonic Community Center. The dinners are held on the 2nd & 4th Tuesdays of the month. Lynne Belluscio, Sam Vagg, Jake Whiting, Amber Dobson, Bob Carlsen, and Mary Young were all called on for missed meetings. Lynne Belluscio played NBA trivia, and paid up for being unfamiliar with logos. Amber Dobson was fined for numerous pictures of her children. Sam Vagg was fined for being in the final stages of her administrator’s license. Steve Barbeau, the Town Supervisor from LeRoy, joined us and gave an update on what the Town Board is working on. Steve began by thanking Rotary for our continued support of the Steam Shovel Project. He then mention how busy these winter months have been in our town. The town voted in favor of making LeRoy Ambulance Service a tax entity. The decision is now up to the Village to approve to finalize the process. Steve informed the group that we now have 3 part time code enforcement officers. Genesee County is working on increasing the volume of water that can come into our county every day by 2.2 million gallons. There are several seats up for election this fall including Town Justice, 2 Town Council seats, Town Supervisor, Highway Superintendent, Town Clerk, and County Legislator.
