Guests included four LeRoy High School Seniors who shared their present-day activities and their plans for the future. Also present to participate in our auction were Tom McGinnis’ daughter, Heather, Phil Plossl’s wife Ellen and Randy Vink’s wife MaryAnn. Announcements were plentiful as always, this busy time of year! Santa Claus will be visiting the Rotary lunch on December 19th. Rotarians were encouraged to bring young ones to visit Santa. LeRoy Rotarians will be heading the Salvation Army Bell Ringing at Tops on December 15th and 22nd. Early Act and our local police department will be “stuffing the cruiser” at Tops from 10 am -2 pm on December 16th. The Community Kitchen served a lasagna dinner to many grateful individuals on December 11th and will be serving a Christmas Dinner on December 26th. As always volunteers are welcome. Jason Karcher attended the Rotary Leadership Institute at Niagara Community College. He described a worthwhile experience with plenty of opportunity to engage with fellow Rotarians. Randy Vink reminded us to purchase our tickets for the First Night LeRoy Raffle. The prizes are outstanding! The Rotary Club of LeRoy is so fortunate to have members who are eager to take on leadership positions. Two new members were elected to the 2019 Board. Betsy Halversen and Mike Tucci will begin their term on the Board in June 2019. Missed meetings were plentiful. Anil Sawney, Lauren Humphrey, Tim Moag, Chris Biviano, Martha Baily, Christine Gephart, Betsy Halverson, Tom McGinnis, Phil Plossl, Jason Karcher, and June Dusen all had missed meetings with respectable excuses. Fines included Lauren Humphrey who was fined for a picture of one of her sons climbing the wall (such a Humphrey move!). Betsy Halversen was fined for starting a Library at the Town Hall, Marcia McKenzie was fined for her grandson and Christine Gephart for her son who had impressive interviews with President Jim. Bob Sullivan chose to “just pay a fine”, and Tim Moag was fined for missing a trivia question. We finally reached the main purpose of our meeting: the Cookie Auction! Tom McGinnis and Martha Baily did an excellent job auctioning off cookies, cakes, pies, and candies donated by talented Rotarians. LeRoy Rotarians are generous individuals and the $1,155 raised will be donated to the LeRoy Rotary Community Kitchen. Have you considered becoming part of an organization which is wiping polio off the earth, funding over $35,000 in scholarships for local graduates, feeding hungry people at the Community Kitchen twice each month, and saving the lives of babies in Uganda?
